It's not so much that there IS a box (for me). It's that the box is centered, and so squared. There appears to be a multi-layered anti-conformity vibe going on here, so for me, the fact that it's all contained in the conformity of a box is ironic. If the box was off-center and elongated, it would be doubly, or triply so. Not sure if other people pay as much attention to t-shirts as I do, however.

Reminds me of Jane Eyre + Helen Burns...I hate Jane Eyre, but I love this design. I wouldn't wear it with the box, whether or not it means something. It just doesn't look as nice as it could. If you are going to use a box, I think mightyrex's ideas are right on.

yeah if you wanted a box you should have just kept it the white instead of adding a thick black border.

this would work on a white shirt so there would be no need for a box outline or drastic change of background to shirt color to draw attention away from the incredible image. props g.

i think it can be seen as a very powerful and meaningful message. and i think the box makes it more intense hence getting rid of the box would get rid of some of the meaning. at least for me anyway. however, i don't know if it is really meant for a shirt....

Get rid of the box and blend the design into the shirt. The girl with no face is slightly creepy but conveys the message of being someone who is not noticed by other kids. A lonely feeling.

goodness gracious, why is everyone so down on the box. Try thinking outside said proverbial box and accepting something a little different.
That would be a completely different image and message without the box, in my opinion. Plus, the wall base would just end, which wouldn't make much sense. |
