The carbon tetrachloride's structure is also represented wrong.
It should indicate a tetrahedral shape. So three atoms equidistant around the central atom, and then one eclipsing the central atom |

I tried it with carbon tetrachloride, but it just didn't flow as well. I know that the design doesn't accurately represent what the 3 dimensional version would be, but it just adds to the incompetence of whoever drew it. in this case, me. thanks everyone for your supportive comments so far! |

resubmit with better graphics. i think a hand drawing with 3 colors (like, chloride is yellow, magnesium is red, bear is blue maybe with a white for a 4th color... this could be so much better!

housepetsoup on Jun 18 '06 the thing i wrote originally never got posted, but i tried intentionally to keep the design pretty simple. i felt it gave it more of an authentic approach, like someone would actually draw if that's what they thought the structure was supposed to be.
not that i don't appreciate all of your lovely comments. keep em coming. as an aside, does anyone have an idea as to why it still says 7 days left for my design? it's been up for at least two. |

i am a biochemistry major too, and i think this is adorable. i also think that, even though you wanted it to seem like you'd just drawn it out how you understood, that the bearium chloride idea is cute enough to not pretend you're dumb, and do it with really fancy models with colors and such, and add the tetra to the carbon tetrachloride. you could make a bearshaped something with pretty models and it would be ... prettier!

I think adding the `why I failed chemistry` would make it more understandable and i think you can keep the bear simple without using that circly-drawing tool thing. or maybe make it less obvious?? any way a cute design definitely!!

Well I just found out I got an A- in chemistry, but I would still wear this shirt because of its awesomness.
And yes text underneath it would definitly help make the point more clear, but I could live without it. Also I think color would ruin the whole realistic approach. I love this shirt, really hope it gets printed. |

simple-stupid is a design limiter. it works, but not as well as it could have been. i am no artist though, so i would have executed similarly. slightly rougher handwritten font selection may also work better. maybe use the same font and rough it up a bit.

I can dig it, man. And I see your point, too. But maybe you could try to get the bear a little more "snuggly" looking. Bigger ears and arms, maybe, and a smaller midsection? A cuter bear would probably be more wearable, to me.
Either way, clever idea. :) |
