I'm a straight female and I don't think it's that distasteful... and I'm not a free, wild hippy girl either. I like that the girls are curvy and they look like old school, pin up shapes. I think the design should be smaller though & I think your crowd would be the Hot Topic type of buyers.

Do more silhouettes!!!

I'm a straight girl and a big fan of classic pinup girls like Bettie Page, but my problem with this shirt is more that it doesn't really bring anything to the table beyond nice girl-shapes.

 BasicShift on May 30 '06
these images seemed derived from a font set or photoshop brush sets I've seen... if I'm wrong I'm sorry, if not this really isnt much of anything

compositionally the girl on the far right seems a bit out of place...

What's the point to it?

Most threadless shirts have some sort of idea, or pun, or nice illustration. This just seems like you're hoping to sell it on the concept of hot chicks alone.

Burlesque is great, I like the idea (& by the way I'm a straight girl, who actively encourages her boyfriend's appreciation of curvy ladies from the 50's) but some of the sillouettes are a little weird - Specifically the breasts on the center girl & the second right girl.
ranal
ranal on May 30 '06
I'm a straight- girl and I like it. At least it's not one of those "artsy- romantic" subs with a woman w/ flowers blossoming around her or what not that all end up looking the same. this is more edgy. looks a little to skanky with the red, though.

everynewmorning on May 30 '06
Because it looks kind of like just stock girls that were converted in silohouettes, a few of their arms look deformed, or it looks like hair/tumors/weird breasts jutting out of their bodies.

It might be sweet if it there were more...an army of pin up girls. Not bad though.

THAT'S SO DISGUSTING! I just invite every person that reads my comment to find on the web the font called DARRIANS SEXY SILHOUETTES and check out the "beautiful" job that spoiler did. Copy a font and submit it... wtf is that?????

i love it. i think it's totally hot. i would sport the pink one though. that's the type of girl i am. ;) why is this distasteful? it's just a silhouette of ladies. maybe the pimp isn't necessary...but i dig it. my boyfriend digs it too. i would totally buy this shirt.
Lydja
Lydja on May 31 '06
I think the idea for this is diffrent and new. I like it besides the fact that the girls shapes seem to be off a bit. I love the female figure and I would hate to see this shirt make the pinup look seem cheezy or fake. maybe with some work it would have a better responce.

Fakemidnight on May 31 '06
Just for everyones information, I am a straight girl who loves classic pinups. For all of you how think this is perverse grow and stop being so insecure. I did not use a font to create this but I must have had the same Idea beause some of the shapes are the same. We must have looked at the same original painting from the 50's. As for the girl in the middle thats not her boob that is pointy its her elbow. This is my first submission, thanks for the comments.

I'm a straight girl. I'm not offended, and I rather like most of the silhouettes, but I am REALLY bugged by the "breasts" on the woman in the middle. I realize (now that it's been pointed out) that it is not a boob but an elbow... and I like that, but it needs to be a little more clear.
divalim
divalim on May 31 '06
seems to me the girl in the middle doesn't have weirded out boobs..looks like a puffy sleeve from one of those flowy dresses type.

i'm a straight girl. think this is hot, not the red colour though. says something bout beauty & performance from the sillhouettes alone. however, i think the last girl on the right looks like she's strugglin to do some yoga move. cheers.

estwo on Jun 01 '06
its boring, sorry... and the vector work doesnt even look like vector work.. more like non anti-aliased bitmap art you get in a bad clip art pack.

plus.. what are you trying to say? theres no story, no intrigue.. its just images that mean nothing beyond their obviousness. threadless designs usually are layered with meaning or comedy or intelligence or all of the aforementioned.. + wicked artwork.

this oozes hasselhoff-ism. That can be good or bad. I'm not sure this is blik's style though, there may have been a better way to illustrate the idea of wall pinup and the "off the wall" theme a little better.

If you're just going to do a fill you have to really be careful how it looks afterwards.

The middle girl looks strange because she clearly had flaired sleeves and you just filled them - which looks wierd to someone who never saw the picture you used.

You filled clothes on the other girl they think looks wierd too.

Not everything works in sollouhette - oh no - it's just a type - ohgodogodogod.

thank crunchy it's friday!!!!! byee folks - we have a long weekend here and the sun is up!

so everyone else can STFU. Nice idea, but not my type, personally.

im a vintage pin-up fan, and i would like this more (and actually wear it) if it were a bit more creative than a line of silhouettes, the poses are good, but its still just a line of girls...

First of all, give the poor girl a break, it's her first submission damnit. When I sumbitted my first design all I got was nasty comments (mainly because it actually was crap) and it did put me off submitting again.

I wouldn't say it's distasteful, the poses are sexy and a lot of girls seem to like it and I don't really see much wrong with seeing straight guys wearing it?

However, like Morphyne said, it is just a line of girls. There are few things you could have done to "Jazz" it up a bit just to make it your own(at least this way you can justify that it is all purely your work with a little inspiration), even if it just means drawing in clothes or areas of light making it a little bit more detailed (Because silhouettes are pretty easy to draw, I mainly rate things on how good the illustration is) Perhaps make it a bit witty, especially if this is meant to be a classic picture of beatiful female figures

- Squeege hit the nail on the head by suggesting making them fat. That would certainly appeal to a lot of people, besides it being somewhat amusing (no offence intended, since I'm no Kate Moss) it may appeal to a lot of self-concious people, who aren't happy with they way they are; suggesting that you don't have to have a "perfect" body to be sexy, in which case I'd definately wear it.

Nice try all the same!

Also, I have brushed exactly like it. So it doesn't seem original.

im a straight girl and i think its not bad. 30s and 40s pinup girls are cute. so besides the oddly shapend body parts in some places, its not bad.
mrdeadhead
mrdeadhead on Jun 05 '06
i like the pin up idea, really do. but for some reason this layout doesnt pull it. maybe it would just be easier to work with one, and maybe make it more creative. and i know for certain that the placement isnt helping you here.

Straight female, not offended. Love the silhouettes, but find the design a bit boring. Also, I agree with a previous comment about composition, re the girl on the right. Would like to see this with a bit more added to it. ^^

Eh this has no pun or anything remotely funny. And it's really not wearable. If anything, it'd be a good poster on a guy's (or lesbian's) wall.

How the hell is this distasteful?...i think it's quite cool, I've worn a lot more distasteful Ts than that!!...at least it's not tasteLESS...like some of the t-shirts i've seen...there's no point having "layers" and "story content" if it still looks ugly...this work is simple and there's no bullshit...I agree though, it might need a little touching up...excuse the pun!!

Meh. Sorry to say it, but I find it really dull. It's like looking at something I've seen a million times before but it's so overdone I can't remember where I saw it.
