Thanks for the comparisons to john2, plans (and squeegebeckenheim). That guy is amazing. We definitely do both share a taste for the sagging, deformed and obese -which will be evident in my next sub, "KITTY!". (It's not up yet but soon, hopefully.)

the concept could be the same as "strangers with candy", but it's a classic concept, which was known before "strangers with candy"... so it's really not a problem... this design is great and really well done, the two designs really look differents, there's no way someone could confuse them!

Thank you, w4nderland, for very eloquently stating the difference between ripping off another's artwork and excecuting an interpretation of a theme. I could not have put it better.
andyg, I do agree that both Seabass and I have obviously been influenced in this post Tim Burton, post Genndy Tartovsky (sp?) world. But to assert that I'm blatantly ripping Seabass's work so angrily is just a waste of your energy. To start, I was unaware of Seabass before I submitted this entry and to finish, I know what artists influence my work and exactly none of them contribute to this website. |

I think this is decent, but i find these ideas when the beast/monster is integrated to be a subtle part of a design. I spose the joke is that the little girl is stupid enough not to see beyond the ice-cream.. perhaps?

If Threadless prints another monster giving a little girl some kind of treat, I'm going to shoot myself. What a ripoff of Strangers with Candy. PLus, the girl looks like a totally different style than the monster. zero.
