Rockslide on May 19 '06 I really love this Olli. I think this is your first print! Although I kinda thought a couple of your recent subs would be your first print, they've all been great. This is a great contrast of the happy scientists to the horror they are facing. Awesome!

I love the movie, "The Thing," but it
didn't come to mind when I first saw the design. I think all the pink makes it look like something aimed at kids ( like Nickelodeon's green slime ). Now that I'm clued in, I see Kurt Russel's character, the human-head- crab creature, and the dog creature. The talking T-Rex, the pink triangle nose (scarecrow?), and the flood of pink juice all over the place aren't elements that remind me of the movie. |

OlliRudi on May 21 '06 the whole point was making it cute and happy as a humourous contrast to the film, you know...It's a very abstract interpretation, but that's totally intentional.. If i wanted it to look close to the movie, i woulda used a completely different style.
that said, all of the elements in the design are loosely based on things seen in the film, nothing that would cause copyright problems though. |

Aw, man... this is totally a boyfriend birthday present right here if this prints. I mean, this is the movie we fell in love over... well, this and Total Recall. (Dare you to make THAT movie into a cuddle t-shirt. Specifically the Kuato sequence.)

having not seen the movie, this one almost but doesn't quite work for me. taken on its own merits, i like the notion of the scientists posing for a shot with monsters rising up behind them, but the monsters are two pink and perky to be ominous, and the scene is too shallow without any ominousness. i guess i would wish for more emotional contrast, or for fewer monsters, or for some reason why the monsters and their tub were their behind the scientists.
i wanted to believe, olli. |

Maybe I'm just biased because I love the movie, but I think the shirt gets by on its own merits. I mean, it's clearly (I think) NOT supposed to be ominous. That's what makes it funny, y'all... they are posing WITH the monsters in, like, a family/vacation-type photo. I'm thinking it's not shallow because of this semi-ironic quality. Am I being understood at all? Maybe not... I'm not even understanding what I'm trying to get at now... All that aside, I love it. $5. |

These colors are great, I don't think I've ever seen them used together on a threadless sub, and the design itself is awesome. Reminds me of the 70s, I think. 5.
