This design was initially inspired by a passage from the book "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman" by Nobel physicicst Richard Feynman. Feynman mentions a children's book called "What Makes It Go?" wherein pictures of cars, airplanes, tricycles, etc. are displayed over the question "What makes it go?" At the end, it is supposedly revealed that "energy makes it go", and Feynman rightfully complains that the child comes away with nothing; he may as well have been told that 'widgets' make it go, and would not have learned any less.

Instead, Feynman points out, the phrase "The Sun Makes It Go" would have been rich with information. If one could understand how everything ultimately depends on the sun's light and heat to function, one could at least get an inkling the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, without getting bogged down by terminology. "The Sun Makes It Go" would convey a deep and complicated concept elegantly-- and in a single phrase.

The styling of the shirt is deliberately reminiscent of the seventies; the last time people were thinking alot about energy.

So, given this, I hope you'll find "The Sun Makes It Go" to be something worthy.

Some reason I REALLY like this one... The style, the color, the text... Everything. Thank you.

there was another recent sub (for blik, i think) about alt. energy - and i really like them both - different styles, similar-ish message

i get your reference - but my first thought was solar, hydroelectric power ( water) and bio-fuel (crops)

it has a message, it's relevant to current issues, i dig the retro look

but i'm with rrich76 on the brown - i'd love to see other color options, but i'd take it on brown

5$

Indeed, the design reminded me of something I'd seen in a book. Thanks for explaining the inspiration. The style is very 70s, but not overly so. I like it.

$5, I think it would be perfect if the design was larger on the tee - but then again, I'm a sucker for larger designs!

I definitely like the style, I find the aeroplane looks a bit out of place though, the angle we're seeing it from doesn't match the rest of the picture. Altough it would look even more strange from another angle.
