the disconnect in the style betweenthe tree and the green dudes is a bit much... they are completely differant styles.
multi-color vs single color outlined vs no outline simple vs complex hand drawn cartoon vs more realistic I enjoy the green guys, but the tree breaks it for me. It looks too realistic for the greenies... |

thank you for the comments everyone- the design does cut off at the seam, but i could certainly create a fading off effect that goes around the back. I just wasn't sure if threadless accomodated prints that wrapped around that much. Different colors. I like the little bloop things the color that they are. The cherry blossoms seem to.......elegant for them? They're all cute and well...Its hard to explain. But I likeeee a lot. :)

No, i can't say i had princess mononoke in mind when i started doodling the bloops onto the tree, but since you mention it, i can see that they do have a bit of a similarity in that they live in trees and are funny looking little creatures. the ones from the anime are pretty different however, being white, with heads, legs and arms. I don't mind them being compared to the bloops though, since I always thought they were cute too.

i think its really cute, i like that the tree is so realistic and the bloobs are...well, bloobs. i think that and the bloobs being adorable really make this t-shirt work....but i think that there could be a slightly better color scheme.

i agree that more colours should have been made. I was going with the influence of original image which had blue sky, hence the blue shirt.. slate grey looked nice too when i tried it! ah well..next time i won't limit myself. cheers.

the tree looks autotraced..... and that makes me hate this, even though i want to like it.

Two people have mentioned autotrace now, so I'd like to explain my reason for using it. Normally autotrace is not for me, but the original image was a photograph in which i drew the bloops, so I wanted to carry through that contrast of real vs. fantasy into the t-shirt version and the logical way was to auto trace it into 3 colours. Sure, I could have hand traced each blossom, but really, that would have taken hours, and I don't have hours to spend on something like that.
I've used photoshop for 8 years and can recognize a filter in a second, but I try not to let my knowledge of filters influence my judgement of a piece all the time, since sometimes there's a a situation in which they can work well. |

THERE IS NO SEAM!!! Has anyone actually looked at a threadless tshirt? They are tubes!!! there is no seam under the arms.
I would like to see this design go round onto the back, more keen on the tree than the bloops, no offence like. |
