bortwein on Apr 13 '06 From a distance the life ring and water trail on the ground look like a sperm. I like the concept and the illustration, but I feel it's missing something. I can't put my finger on what is missing but it's something.

I wish I had more than $5 to give. Some days I wish someone would come along with little grabber claws and drop me down a prize chute into happiness. Also, I do not feel like it looks like sperm. (In reference to bortwein's comment -- I'm not just thinking about sperm.)

really well drawn- congrats on such an original idea! I wish it could have more colors. seems like it needs one more image, on the top under "Rescue Mission", seems kind of empty. but great job anyway.

Saw your blog on this too - the last minute touches of the shark and running guy really punched it up. Really clever concept and a solid technical drawing with a lot of life in it. I wanna be in there.

To clarify my point, especially for Robsoul.
As someone who is not American and has never been to a Dennys (Should I? Are they as swanky as Waitrose or are we talking Bugdens?), this design straight away reminds me of a scene from a hugely popular feature length cartoon. And actually I thought those little alien guys were the best thing about "Toy Story"! Anyway,it's a good design and an interesting response to the Red Cross contest. |

Though I am usually quite a fan of d3d, I'm not wild about this for the comp. On its own, fine, but I don't know what the Red Cross has to do with plucking people from downed planes in the ocean... that's really more of a coast guard thing.
