the houses are a different style than the tree / kid /cat.

i like the style of the tree / kid / cat. change the houses so it doesn't mismatch. but, very good idea and executed okay.

The line weight on the tree bark looks too thick and smooshed. The background doesnt really serve the foreground, neither in style nor concept. We dont need houses to appreciate the situation in the foreground, and they really only take away from the idea. Overall I think its a decent design, but a refined, more detailed version of the foreground, on its own might look more appealing, to me, on a shirt. I do like the overall style of the foreground though, and enjoy the character designs.

yo starr, love the old school style you got going on. I agree with Ste7en about the line weighting of the detail on the trunk. I would also say the flame's coming out the two chimneys should be different. Heck it looks good on a tshirt so 5$ :)

the foreground of the drawing has a very soft line-quality, but the houses are very sharp. they are nicely detailed, but that detail also detracts from what's going on in the foreground — the center of the composition.

This would be great in the www.mojizu.com competition!!

I enjoy this design. It is a nice use of light asymmetry and depite the fact that I'm not fond of warm colors I still think I'd wear it.

just a tree? not so much. It would be way less visually interesting. And the row of houses serves the function of showing how one act takes place in a greater community. it's not just the act of helping, it the act of helping in a community.

I think a lot of the criticism regarding the background is both kneejerk and petty. The piece has a larger universal context, and the single-tone background is effective. The design also has a nice lateral balance, which will work well as a tshirt. Nice design starr.

i actually like it better how you have it displayed with the gray rainbow design above it and gray design below it, kinda framing the pic. And i would take away the smoke from the chimneys since it appears to be a warm day and would not need fires going.

and Happy Easter ! some ppl may be busy this weekend.
