I chose AB because people with AB can recieve any type of blood.
Also because one letter centered didnt look as asthetically pleasing to me (thats the real reason).
i would lose the text on the bag(or change it so that it just says "blood" or something... i have type "o" so i would feel weird wearing this shirt...) and the bottom. keep the "iGive" logo and go for a wide array of colors like the ads. i really like the concept though... well done. 4
OMG you guys - give it up - this is a really cool idea & design. Quit picking on every small miniscule detail - like the the "platforms" or the knees, "AB" on the bag, etc. Not everyone that wears and buys t-shirts is a designer / artist and is even going to notice any of that. The text at the bottom really brings everything together - "IGIVE Blood. IGIVE Donations. hence... IGIVE Hope." The idea and the design really grabbed me. I really like this - I'd buy it!
I like the idea. But it kinda reminds me of a tshirt that you would get for donating blood. Not one you would buy on your own. The drawing is a little rough, but, once again, I do like the idea. It needs to be cleaner.
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I realize I rushed this one into the running and I regret it now, but I could and would definitely make some of the changes people have suggested.
This design is actually inspired by a member here, KatieLadie. She was dancing while giving blood the other day, I doubt wildly like this but thats what art is for: To exaggerate reality.
That said, I realize exaggerations aside this still needs some work. I've already got a version with the fixed leg and arm. I might remove the blood type altogether, its pretty obvious what it is without the text.
Actually at the blood bank here where I live, they give us a free t-shirt every time we donate blood or plasma. They all are cute with some sort of reference to giving, saving lives, etc. This shirt fits right in.
And I have never heard of anyone being allowedto dance while donating blood. Everywhere I have been, they have us laying on a table, hooked up to the blood bag, while squeezing something with your fist. Since most people get light-headed from loss of blood, they feed you cookies, juice, soda pop, etc, afterwards. Unless I saw it with my own eyes, I would say no one has ever danced while donating blood. I do love the happiness the shirt inspires though. I think it would make a nice motivational shirt for the blood donating cause.
I think her legs/feet look fine, but the right hand is a bit... off. Maybe with all the complains about the letter on the bag, changing it to a blood droplet would be easier for everyone to 'get'? I dunno.
I really like it, though. It's probably my favourite Red Cross submission yet.
I think this sorta thing would be fine by threadless... but to have such a large volunteer organization be associated with the process you might actually have to consider copyright infringment... im one of the people who usually could care less but in a competition i think the judges might really consider that, also as has been stated... the anatomy is really wonky
Yeah I dunno about dancing while giving blood... first of all, I've seen a lot of people pass out just from standing up after finishing giving... and last time I gave it seemed the needle was sensitive... the nurse lady actually had to come over and spin the needle around in my arm so I would start to give faster.
I like the lighthearted approach, I like the
text, and I would like the concept presented
on a red shirt.
The only thing bothering me is that the
image of the dancing girl shows her receiving
blood while the text makes it look like she is
saying she gives blood. When I donated blood
the blood pack would be below the needle in
my arm. When receiving blood the blood pack
is above the needle in the arm.
I'm just not a fan of parody logos/designs.
Especially in this case - linking people's generosity and compassion to a ubiquitous marketing campaign. It just seems wrong.
I would like it a lot better if the girl looked less awkward...around the knees particularly. And if the blood wasn't labeled AB, we can all tell its a blood bag anyways.
I do quite like this, but I can tell you right now any girl wearing a t shirt saying "I Give..." would be hassled by sleazy guys finishing the quote in an entirely different way to the one you are intending.
O can give blood to anyone actually. People with A blood produce plasma anti bodies that attack B type so they can recieve A or O. People with B produce antibodies for A, so they can recieve B or O, and AB produce no anti bodies so they can accept O as well, and O can accept O obviously.
this is an amazing idea. if you would just tweak the anatomy as described by previous commenters (right hand and leg particularly), i would totally buy this shirt. like whoa.
i think it helps to have the bag labeled because then you know what the woman is giving. the blood type on the label is not as important as the anatomical issues.
Would look better with a different font. I used to know the name of THE font Apple uses for iPods, but I forgot. :\ Either way, best I've seen so far for this contest. :]

wow. i REALLY like this. $5
DinosaurXcore
maybe if you used a different text id like it.
Verdana
Wow. And here I thought I'd never see another iPod ad parody. Much less, one from a blogger.
But it looks great. Good job.
bettybob
why did you choose to label the blood bag AB? just curious...
good idea...it'd be cool if this was the shirt they gave you when you donate blood...cus the ones the blood bank usually has are crap.

sounddbox
clever, but i wouldnt wear it. you should hgave used arial or whatever the iPod font is
but very clever, 5
Daniel Annis
the hands and calfs are awkwardly sized.
andyg
There's something kind of tasteless about this one.
Leenie691
Clever (I think?) I wouldn't call it tasteless, but it is kind of silly. Nevertheless, it's a good idea.
potatopotato
I'd think that it'd make more sense if you used O as the blood type considering they can GIVE to anyone.
duckies1991
it is nice but there are just sooo many different ipod variation
but still
it is nice
whitexxlies
HAHA!
cute idea.
the firgure is a little akward.
but its a start

Modern
O- would've been much better.
The font is horrid.
the right leg is mutilated.
ksmith688
this is awesome
Logistics
I would fix the right arm and get rid of the text "Blood. Donations. Hope"
Just my suggestion, 4
rockmeamadeus
i like, but what is goin on w/her outfit? platform shoes? if i want to be stylish i wont wear somebody who isnt, you feel? 4

i love the concept >D
cirque427
why didn't you use myriad?
kayceislost
Something about her right leg is bothering me... the knee is bent inward but then the shoe is facing the opposite way.
rudra
O- is the universal donor type, so that would be better
and the nurses I know would've grabbed her and strapped her down to the table if she even tried to sit up, much less dance

the drawing is kind of messy, the idea is pretty good but the illustration needs some work.

hahaha! i really like this one!!
great job!

its a great design, but not soemthing i'd personally wear. 5

I really love this.

it's well designed, but any time i see an ipod themed design my brain automatically goes into zero mode.

one of my favorite red cross shirts yet, but the right hand is really odd. and it bothers me. and the boot is a bit, well, large.
but i really like the design.
different font, definitly. but i like it.

BekiClam
Nice idea, but I'd worry about copyright infringement as others said.
Also, it's a bit nitpicky, but there is no "universal donor." They just request more O-type because more people have it, thus there is more need.
Ste7en

It seems the concept of a universal
blood donor no longer exists.

I think it's an exceptional idea (however overrated others say; I haven't seen many), but no, I wouldn't wear it. 5.
Ste7en
well helo I stand corrected, though it still appears O has the best chance of mixing with everyone
agentrrh
this is great! ! ! shes rockin out...i dont think the bag should be labeled AB because it is distracting.

I'm sorry, so many people criticizing such MINOR details! This is far and away the best design I've seen yet for this contest! Incredible design!!!
Danies
Best I've seen for the contest. It would look better if the font was arial. They should give you this shirt when you donate blood.
