GET OFF YOUR ASS! SHUT OFF THE F*CKING COMPUTER AND YOUR ILLEGALLY-DOWNLOADED MOVIES, AND READ A F*CKING BOOK! Okay, end rant. As for the design, it is not a Ralph Steadman, it is an homage. (But don't worry, Pee Pee, we can't expect people to know that when they haven't even read the f*cking book!) Your design is more "cartoon-y" and even silly -- and I mean that in a good way. It doesn't have the joyful malace of Steadman's stuff, but instead is a kind of what-if-Ralph-Steadman-drew-for-Warner-Bros.-cartoons. It's seriously cute. I love it. I want it. Definite fiver. |

See, I didn't like the movie all that much, so I'm not a rabid fan. But I would buy this in a second. Because it's the only part of the movie I liked a lot. Good ol' Bat Country. So $5 because I want this shirt very very badly.

i think these is a pretty decent design. but i also think that if you are going to do a hunter s thompson, fear and loathing thing, i believe you need to completely avoid anything that looks even remotely like ralph steadman. ralph steadman is amazing, and by comparison this design sucks, and since this design does not exist in a bubble, in which it would be pretty good, the comparison is unavoidable. i think it would be a lot more interesting if instead of paying homage to mr steadman, you went in the completely opposite direction.

Hunter S. Thompson was a GOD... The movie and some worthless band called avenged sevenfold are not even comparable to the book. GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND PICK UP A BOOK.
On to the tee-shirt the idea is great but you REALLY need to create your own bats because the ones you are using in the design are such a blatant rip-off of everything RALPH STEADMAN and his unique style. If you were to re-create one w/ new bats I would probably give you a 5, but right now I wouldn't even wipe my ass w/ this design... I hope you really don't print this shirt because you might get sued big time for copyright infringement....... |

i cannot believe that there would not be any legal issues with this shirt.
the idea that it is an homage rather than i total rip-off is at best silly. the bats are copied and pasted from ralph steadman. why is it that so many of you are blind to this fact. this is not an original design, and even if the subject matter is cool, it is seriously lacking in artistic integrity. i dont think this is ok. |

Of all the shirts I have rated, I think this is one the best. Even though I admire his work, I don't think I would wear a t-shirt with Steadman's Fear and Loathing artwork. I think you captured his style in a way that is just fit for a t-shirt. Awesome Job!!

I gave this shirt a five instantly because I'm a shameless Hunter S. Thompson Whore, but on a second glance I can't but help think that Hunter needs a little more detail. Make the image of him driving larger if you must, but there's gotta be more to him.
And I agree that the shirt color should be changed. And as big of a HST whore I am...I'm not sure I'd buy this :-/ . |

taking cheap shots at me will not change the facts even if these bats were drawn by yourself, they still look exactly like the ralph steadman bats, so what was the point? i mean no harm in my comments, and my intent is not to pick a fight also,, in response to ribbu, i believe it is you who is commenting without any point of reference i mean you dont need to look but beyond the front cover, and you will see these very same bats this is not about a few drips, and ralph steadman's work is more than his line quality i am not trying to piss people off, but i think perhaps a lot of people are too busy creaming themselves over the good hunter s, that they fail to see the unoriginality in this particulaar design i am not saying that the design is not yours pee pee, all im saying is that the majority of your design is so heavily inspired by another artist that for me it is impossible to ignore |

I don't know about you guys, but for some reason when I see that guy on the bottom I think Inspector Gadget. I guess I never saw Fear and Loathing, but I guess the shirt doesn't mean much to me. Besides that, the graphic of the guy in the car and the road and cactus and bush don't seem to fit well with the bats... I really liked the bats though, I enjoy designs that seem to spread across the shirt. I give it a 2.

i heard about this design before i saw it for myself. it's taken a whole lot of contemplation and reading of the comments for me to formulate something of a response.
i know there are a lot of fans out there looking for some way to pay homage. and honestly, when i first saw the shirt i was thrilled. the bats are amazing; identifiable by any idiot without being complete plagorism. but the more i look at the bottom, the more unsettling it is. the car and smoke have a very "loony toons" style that doesn't quite fit in, and i agree that the lawyer should be in the car (because if you're going to parody a famous illustration/scene, do it completely). as much as i really really want an hst shirt, i feel like a little revamping and tweaking of the details is in order. it's just a mesh of two drawing styles that doesn't seem to suit it. and ignore all the petty arguements about whether or not this is plagorism: if it's a major issue then it will come up and the process will start again. i'm sick of people using this as a public forum to argue about petty bullshit with each other. i'm still rooting for it though, i like the color. and if the car was anything but fireapple red, i'd kill it right there. |
