I like your presentation, but because it is a bit too girly, even for me, yes, owner of personal femme parts, a four.

Pretty cool. Being a guy I wouldn't wear it, but the design is quite appealing. And don't worry about that kristinlovesdinner. She's a douchebag.

Has anyone seen the movie Boxing Helena? Where this guy kidnaps an ex-girlfriend and chops off her arms and legs? That's immediately what I thought. This design has a kind of violence to it - girl with no hands or feet, with her lips zippered shut. The design _style_ is very nice, but this graphic makes me uncomfortable, somehow.

lilah on Mar 14 '06
(Not in a feminist, no-violent-depictions-of-women-should-be-allowed kind of way, just in a yikes-I-don't-like-the-idea-of-this-happening-to-me kind of way.)

After I read some comments I felt me in the obligation to give some explanations:
1)Target: Yes, my style always was considered or infantile or very girly. In the beginning this bothered me, but now, not anymore. When I made these t-shirts I thought exclusively for girls. It had been made the order of my sister, who´s, btw, its a big fan of the Hot Toppic. Yes these t-shirts it has a well specific public-target, and I understand, that here, a print to be produced has to be "uniform as possible". Therefore, I know that it doesn´t please so much in here, as would please as in a label more directed toward to the target. But thats fine, my idea was not to make of this print a winner, but only receive feedback about my work. So thanks all who did that.

2) Hot Topic: I am brazilian, and as such, during a long time I didnt know the existence of this label. As I already said, my sister felt t-shirt lack for girls as her, here in the Brazil (and we do not have Hot Topic downhere). Then I made the first one inspired on her (KIKA), that more like the doll on the T as the time we speak. To make this story short (:P), when I realise it I made a small collection, all in this style. I think That Im already have 6 (“Kika – Mod Dooll”, “Kiko”, “Andora – Bad Medecine”, “Scarlatt – Silent Movie”, “Kelly+Ted - skull toys”, “Clara+Branca – Love Hurts”). After having discovered the label, must to admit that they would be really fit perfect there. Then I`ll take these comments as compliment, a time that obtained to catch what this public likes.
3) Feet and Arms: the feet and the arms dont go anywhere. They are there, much simplified. The style of the illustration is this, like it or not. Perhaps this impression has been more in the t-shirt "silente movie". I think that becouse the position and for the fact that doen´t wearing shoes. But if you noticed , in the others two you´ll see that the the carecters have thumbs!. However already it had heard this commentary on "Boxing Helena" and I found very funny . =P

4) About the model: These images had been created for my personal portifolio. Even before I knowing the existence of Threadless. The model was found on the web. I wish I know her...

5) About me and the threads: I believe that this site has appeared with the intention to be something democratic. Of any one, (goths, rockers, boys, girls, emos, vegans, musicians, and why not? Designers also) to come and post a print that would like to be produced. The ironic is that I don´t look like, not even a little with the target with that would use this kind of t-shirts. I am ordinary guy. Im not goth at all. I do´nt even like metal! Perhaps my error was to forget that doesn´t exist many of this public out here. Bou that´s ok, after all, for the people who was made this print, as hate as it gets, better. ;)

Thanks all for the comments. I really appreciated.
Oh...and sorry about my english. ;)

i agree with fgiradi... the design is a "childish" design in the sense that it's cartoony, but not near as childish as a few of the peoples comments on here. i like the cute and cartoony style. at least there is a very established style here, and that's something that many of the people here are lacking. great job man! I wouldn't wear this, but my wife probably would. $5 from me! and your characters don't need feet.

I can see a lot of effort went into the design, and I quite like it despite the fact that I wouldn't wear it myself. So I'm giving it a well deserved 5.

Have you ever seen the designs of Junko Mizuno? This shirt really reminds me of her work. I agree with some of the others that I would like her to have feet, but I think that she's cute and would probably buy it "as is" if Threadless printed it.

In a side note, what's with the animosity toward Hot Topic I've seen on this site?

Finally, a girly design. Love it. And for the guy above that criticized it for the same reason, I'd just like to let him and the other penis packers know that girly shirts on straight boys are sexy.

I was going to comment on the illustration, but by the time I got through the "explanation" write-up, I had forgotten what it looked like.

If a shirt needs 4 paragraphs of pretty extensive explanation/defense, it might need a little work. Just like the drawing might need feet and hands. Other than that, it's just a cool, creepy picture.

I'm a guy and I think I would actually be intimidated to wear this. I guess a guy version of this shirt could be on a black shirt an a few of those skulls that you didn't include in the design. Speaking of that, why is the skull there if it's not in the design? $4

It looks like she's showing off her stub.

"C'MERE BOYS. LEMME SHOW YOU WHERE I USED TO HAVE A FOOT. AINT THAT SEXY?" No, not really.

Sorry, not doing it for me.

However, I love your style and the colour choices. I just don't find amputated feet all that sexy, and it looks like that's what you're going for.

***

"Speaking of that, why is the skull there if it's not in the design?"

Look in the picture. The skull is printed on the bottom corner of the shirt.

I like the "girly" style & love the little skull, but please give her visible hands & feet. My first thought was amputee porn, which, if nothing else, detracts from the "silent movie" theme.
