About my design
by d5christ
not to be confused with the very controversial 'unicorn buggery chart (circa 1861)'

Nice as the text is, it's only re-stating what the image says more eloquently. Beautifully drawn and styled, but lose the text so as not to undercut the joke (no pun intended).

cambert's point is spot on

the illustration is so good that the
text is just a distraction

I agree...I should not have put the text on the shirt...

VERY funny but they text assumes that we're too stupid to get the joke. Lose the text.

Zool_1985 on Mar 07 '06
With out the type I don't think it would make sense. Why don't you have a list next to the unicorn with the numbers and what cut each part is.
That why people will get your design without you having to spell it out =)

the horses head is too big, thats why it looks "stubby" as someone said, the anatomy could be alittle better, just fine tune it, drop the text and try what zool said... text is always good on a shirt
yakksoho
yakksoho on Mar 08 '06
I think the text is unnecessary
However the unicorn looks too cartoony.
Also I think that the more midaeval style of unicorns (as seen in old tapestries &c) would be better for what the shirt was trying to say. This is because over the centuries unicorns are depicted in different ways and the appearance will suggest the period that the piece is from.

Nice design idea, and I don't think you need the text. I like yakksoho's ideas about source material for the unicorn design, too.

I like the concept, but not the illustration. Most butchery pictures have the animal as a silhouette, not with details; plus I'd personally prefer a taller, more ellegant-looking design, just to make the concept seem a little more heinous.

agreed, some sort of text is necessary... but this is a wonderful illustration

After my first threadless shirt wearing experience, I think text is pretty good. At my school, at least. Everyone was asking me what my shirts meant...*sighs* But I do prefer shirts without text. So, Lose text!:) It's still good.

as a kid, my dad would draw cows on napkins to show me exactly how the animal was cut and where the meat was from.

i became a vegetarian.

that said, i enjoy the shirt. but the head *is* too big. sigh. oh well.

Great concept. It's especially meaningful now since I gave up unicorn for lent. Ha. It looks a bit more like a carousel unicorn than a technical drawing for butchers. Maybe that's what you were after.

I personally like the text, esp. the date. Makes it look like a page out of a history book or something.

5$, as is.

I'd either lose the text, or make a guide to go along with the text.

I think the anatomy is fine, it's supposed to be an old style drawing from the 1800s, let's just say not a lot of people drew well back then.
