Looks like a piece of cake that was cut with some sort of high-powered laser knife.

Good idea... could use a more in-depth execution, though, as opposed to a random piece of... something.

As a geologist, I would buy the hell out of this shirt.

needs a little more detail, then it would be very nice.

plate needs some work but i like the idea. maybe fewer layers and add a dinosaur skeleton or an underground lake?
Arielledyan
Arielledyan on Mar 01 '06
a key to which layer is what, and i agree with the above.

Yeah more buildings up top.

moldy lasanga?
toadvine
toadvine on Mar 01 '06
awesome, but take skipcronin's advice. A couple little details like that would make it more obvious what's going on without needing the title.

I think it'd be funny if the top layer was white, and the little building was a power plant, and then there was something cakelike on the top. Like a candle or a piece of one of those frosting roses you always stare at while the person's cutting the cake and you pray to God that you get that corner piece with the huge sugar frosting rose and then a paper plate gets shoved into your hand and you look down to see that you got a piece from the bottom right and the only thing of mild interest on the top is a fly embedded in the frosting.

polyesterblend on Mar 02 '06
hahaha. the frosting rose comment is hil-arious.

my life has become the piece of cake with the embedded fly.

Perhaps more builds and the word "Geology" on the shirt. People who maybe looking at someone wearing it would be like "what is that??"

"As a geologist, I would buy the hell out of this shirt. "

that would be the bottom layer, i take it?

ha, i've always thought this, too! every time they show sections in this manner in textbooks or on those pbs specials, etc, i've had that thought. =p

great idea, though i agree with others on it missing something... maybe add some clever phrase next to or above it? maybe below it in small text? something along the lines of "a piece of the world" or something. [ok, that's corny, but you get the idea]

i immediately knew what this was, but i think it'd be worth it to add a little bit of text on there anyway just to add that extra kick to it.

good idea...make it more cake-ish
and if there were dino bones in one layer, i'd be instantly sold

something on top...buildings or telephone wires would make look more like actaul land. right now it just looks like a delicious piece of cake (not geology cake...chocolate cake)

I have to agree about the buildings on top. Without knowing the title it's difficult to know what's going on. Also, I agree about fixing up the plate. I have to vote lower on this, because of these issues, but given a better version, I would definitely buy. Love the idea.

I love the idea, but I wouldn't know it was suppose to be without the title.

This is an awesome idea! I agree with some of the other comments that it could use some extra work, though. Resubmit with a few changes if you don't get a good score this time around.

Make the earth's crust & cake reference more obvious, and this could look a million dollars.

it'd be cool if you added a knife or just a folk as if it were cakes... which I think you were going for... maybe add an oil drilling station too.

cool idea but needs that extra sha-zam!!!
