About my design

JOT#1

A handy dandy reference shirt for designers.

Just look down for the answers to all your type terminology questions.

colors: black, white, red, and grey (halftone)

You used a foot mark in lieu of an apostrophe. Should correct for the final. That's a big no-no for graphic design type snobs....

attrice on Feb 27 '06
Heh, I wondered if anyone would catch that.

The apostrophe just wrecked the look of the line, being all curly.

In a final version I would probably just take that punctuation out altogether.

You spelled height wrong.

the 06 doesn't dip at all, does it?

what about tracking? small caps? theres so much!

The 06 is the expert version, hence the no dip.

I was trying to mix up different versions of the same font since I couldn't get everything in with labels or it would be unreadable!

And yes, there were still some omissions.

Thanks for the pointer on height Havenspear.

I think I actually left a white shape in there that is covering the top of the H.

I am not a Flash master yet.

It seems like a lot of people favor centering the design. My question to you is this-

If you were wearing this shirt and you looked down to check it out do you really want to be seen staring at that part of yourself?

Up high + centered = girls staring at their own chests

makes the design not flat and hard to read.

Low + centered = staring at the crotch region.

This was th thought process I went through when placing the image, and I certainly could have come to the wrong conclusions.

I just want to put it out there.

it would look cooler on a white shirt

I like where you put it. I don't think people realize it's upside down and in the corner for a purpose. This is where I would put it in order to check it constantly. just to be sure.

^Yeah me too Myriad, I would go as far as to ask threadless to screen it on the inside so I could use it in a final exam (ha ha, well maybe if it was a math cheat sheet).

i like the idea, but needs a bit more refinement. as many designers and typographers are super-anal, any shirt that caters to the audience needs to be flawless execution.

also, why date it? will type cheat sheat '07 up really be any different than type cheat sheet '06?

thank you for the cheat sheet! now I can finally converse with my typo-phile wife about the stuff she loves!

neat!

woooh. that woulda been helpful back in my graphics class! hahaha.

too bad it doesn't read as something cool upside down ;P

and just a little suggestion, i think , if you can, the type on the cheat sheet should wrinkle with the paper... just to creat a more realistic look :)
