Thanks for all of the comments :)

Roostersauce: I guess that's kind of the point? Lamarck's theory of evolution was the inheritance of acquired characteristics over generations.

I think it'd be better if the legs got longer, too; the last one looks a little wonky because of the long neck and short legs.

Oh Lamark, that's rad! Love the concept!
kamisch42
kamisch42 on Feb 21 '06
It's the evolution of the stuffed animal version right? Just thinking that...because if you buy a little stuffed giraffe for a baby, they have short necks, then they're a little longer for the lil' chitlins, but at the fair, where the older crowd goes to play all those rip-off games, suddenly giraffes have necks...and relativelylong ones at that :) Cute, but I wouldn't buy it.

ddcrandall on Feb 21 '06
Gunst, I like it better this way. It implies that evolution is still going on (and was at that time).

Title rocks, but the execution needs work. How are things being acquired? Honestly would anybody get Lamarck from this shirt without the title? I think this is definitely worth reworking for a resub. Good luck.

on natural and dark brown are both nice; I like that they look like stuffed animals.

haha, cute. gotta show my friend this, she's OBSESSED with giraffes.

and it looks best on the yellows, khaki, and brown btw.

scyle on Feb 24 '06
I absolutely love this design! I think it would help if you put a tall tree or something that explains why the giraffe's neck is getting longer (per Lamarck).

I hope that yellow is not a too strong contender as the background (it's a hard color for Asians to wear).

it's cute and all but... if i didn't read any of the text, i wouldn't have figured it was a reference to lamark

I wish it was just a little bit better drawn, but it sure is a rad idea.
owen skyser-gray
owen skyser-gray on Feb 25 '06
If you want to get technical, I don't see the indication of Lamarckian evolution in this picture. There would have to be some instance of the giraffe "using" his neck more, based on Lamarck's principles of use and disues. Only then could the acquired trait be inherited.

To answer your question, yes, I am a nerd.

Well i think it's wicked but i think it would be even better with the text on the tshirt.
deenator
deenator on Feb 25 '06
owen skyser-gray is right.

this could just as easily be darwinian, if each giraffe was a new generation. it should be more clear that the giraffe is streching.

As scientifically innacurate as this shirt is, I still think it's adorable. Heh, and yeah, I agree with owen up there. It doesn't perfectly illustrate the principle...but anyway yes, I like it. $4

I like this, if I had done this idea I would have made it have a bit of humor by like making the giraffe not able to do something, (maybe see over something or reach something), but keep with your same pics just making the necks longer until they were tall enough. I'd buy it. $4
