goodTHEN
This was inspired by at stop at the gas station a couple of weeks ago. A lady was filling up her H2 and was literally on her tip toes to reach the tank. So this goes out to all the little ladies with big SUVs ...

... Love you mom.

Down with big cars using the World's resources, get a push bike. Good design though.

Based on Lucy R and coxiesaras comments, I get the feeling you guys see this as a pro SUV submission. Not the case. I was just mocking the fact that the US is addicted to large SUVs, which seem to get bigger every year. THE END

I hate SUVs. I see you do too. Yay!

Looks kinda like clipart. If not, the passenger-side mirror's angle looks weird.

Haha, goodTHEN, I think option B would be better for that one.

Saw it in the blog, and I like what you did with the end-of-the-hose problem. Good job!

Its a cool idea. I think if it was on a shirt though it may be hard to see the woman pumping. So someone may just look at it and think its an explorer ad. Still like it.

the illustrator outline (made easier by auto trace, thank you CS2) drawings just doesn't turn my crank any more, even when it's illustrating how much gas, an embattled commodity as well as political tool, has become so important to our mobile society today – because nobody has ever brought that to our attention before.

what's wit the thing coming out of the hose?
and while i get it, i feel like a lot of epople would read this as pro suv.
lobstar
lobstar on Feb 16 '06
Great... But why the spill at the end of the hose?

AQlso: It would look funny with a ladder or some steps leading into the drivers cabin.

Reminds me of Geoff Darrows drawings of huge Mars bars and stuff...

Looking at some of the previous comments, i see that some people have no idea what clipart is...This ain't, folks. nice work, but i don't like the way the hose ends, it's jarring compared to the cleanness of the rest of the design

Dear THAW, I don't have CS2 w/ auto trace. However, I will purchase it and turn out a bunch of illustrations that “just don’t turn your crank”. That way you can waste your time commenting on my work. Thanks for the heads up.

I like the concept. Maybe if you placed a few items to highlight the scale issue, such as a tiny cup of coffee seen through the window or something. right now it looks like forced perspective, like she's really far away instead of being dwarfed by the SUV

I have a confession...
I am a customer service slut for Lexus.
They make ugly SUVs... & the tasteless people who buy them think they are onto something very cool... they love to tell me all about it & it's my job to listen.

I really need this T-shirt.
I think it would comfort me.

wow what is CS auto trace? I gotta get with the new millenium programs. I don't even have streamline anymore.
I like the concept a lot dude - Americans have gone crazy about big cars (very sad). I'd create a bit more constrast of the line weights - like you have but a bit more pumped.

If you read the the license plate backwards (as if you were looking at it in a rearview mirror) it would say VULVUS. Sexual innuendo? I think so.

No SUVs. Gas-guzzling polluting cars.
But the shirt's good. :)

I wish the SUV itself had more character besides being obviously traced.

mezo
   mezo on Feb 20 '06
...then throw it at you, goodTHEN?

That was my critique- give your designs more oomph...more character...other than tracing out a few things and slapping it on a shirt. That may be one reason why your concept isn't coming through so well.

If you have such a problem with criticism, then maybe you shouldn't post your art in the publics eye.
goodTHEN
goodTHEN on Feb 20 '06
mezo,
I don't have a problem with criticism... 50% of my job is just that. Thing is, no matter what I say here it will not effect whether or not I will be able to pay my bills. I'm just having fun... that’s all. Trust me... I can take a crit. with the best of them. As for my work you are correct and I can do better. I just got so excited when I found the site… you will see better work.

the LUV in the title and on the image make it seem pro-suv.

This design does seem extremely pro-suv, especially with the heart coming out of the gas hose....
If it's an anti-suv message, then you might want to rework the design to make this a little more clear.

The more I look at this, the more I like it. I wish I had rated it higher. I like its ambiguity, its pure bizarreness, its blueprint style. Tugs at the brain in a weird sort of way. Sort of funny, too.
