too political. more impactful if it were deaths not injuries and deaths. 2% injured in war... not that impactful anyways.

I wanted this shirt to be about the soldiers. I think the Army as a whole catches a lot of flak these days. While I don't agree with what the US government is doing, I think people forget about the soldiers, the real people, over there, doing their jobs, and dying for it.

The war has been going on for so long that it's easy to forget that it's happening. This is supposed to be a reminder, and a tribute to the soldiers.

Sure, it would be more impactful if more people were dying, but I'm thankful they're not. But if I wanted to make a shock value shirt, I'd make one about the number of people dying in car accidents or from lung cancer.

This isn't about the numbers.

This is about the people.

2% seems like the biggest number in the world when someone you love comes back in a flag covered casket.

Thanks so much, everyone.

Dancing: I wanted to do the design on an olive drab shirt, but it's not one of the options. I picked the colours I did because they are military-esque, and I was trying to make my design look like an actual Army PT (Physical Training) shirt like the ones here:

Yeah, this is one of the few designs submitted on khaki where I'm not thinking ugfh, what a horrible color. Additionally, this is one of the few shirts with a message where I'm not thinking, oh dear, it's another shirt with a message. You have a message, certainly, and a powerful one, but it's not shoved in my face.

You seem to have a unique take on things and I'm interested in seeing more designs from you!

ignorant people try to be experts in politics too often... plus i don't think anyone would get the whole point of your design and just take it as another tribute to the military, which is the opposite of your intentions as I see it.

This is SOOO cool! I love it! GREAT concept! It is really sad! I think that on the back of the shirt, you should put the little fact about how many people die or get injuried. It would make the shirt make more sense and make an impact!

ah yes, i hate america too. (sarcasm)

no but seriously, just because you can't see a purpose for the war, doesn't mean there ISN'T one.

seriously, if you like your country enough to incessantly complain about the way its run, then how bout you have a little more faith in it?

that being said, i don't really like the shirt.

Actually, there's 114.

If you crunch the ACTUAL numbers, it works out to about 1.8:100 which is 2.052:114. I can only be so precise...
peacefreak99
peacefreak99 on Feb 15 '06
humm.....2% sounds better. and 2 out of 100 is really 1 out of 50. but i get the whole concept. its just that your fraction makes me sad. :(

Real cool.

Too bad most people who see you wearing it will think you're "supporting the war."
kidderliverpool
kidderliverpool on Feb 15 '06
Yeah, I think because of the actual soldiers spell out 'Army' it's an ambiguous as to whether you are pro or anti army. Maybe if it spelt out something different, or there was a line of blood coming from one of the red soldiers? Nice concept though.
fleamo
fleamo on Feb 15 '06
Cyunza: "Too bad most people who see you wearing it will think you're "supporting the war.""

Maybe from far away. But the fact that the word ARMY is spelled out of toy army men alone makes it really obvious that this shirt is satirical. As for the dripping blood thing... that'susing a cliché to force feed people an already obvious fact.

Why else would they be red? Too much sun?

"Roughly 2 out of 100 soldiers stationed in Iraq forget to wear sunscreen and get badly burned."

It's a great concept, and it's (almost) flawlessly executed. If you take more than a split second to think about it, it makes sense. If you take less than a split second, you might miss the point, but it still looks really cool.

I understand anti war. Fine. But let take a step back. Only two percent of our guys are getting injured or killed. This statistic makes me want to say, hey you guys are doing a pretty good job. Your efficeint. If you we want to make a statement against the war, lets aim for the people making the decisions, not the boys doing what they do and doing it well.

That's a cool shirt. I am staunchly pro-soldier and usually don't like political comments on this site, but this one is good. I think you are trying to get people's awareness of what our men and women go through in the name of their country (no matter how you feel about the war, they are living it). Even better, it is a cool design which is what matters here! Well done.

Might need to enlarge the design to make the toy soldiers a bit more obvious.

I don't know if the detail, at the size it is now, will print well.

Just something to think about.

I really like this, and I feel that people should wear a shirt despite its political standings, people shouldn't be afraid to be proud of what they believe in.

Nicely done, but there's a bit of an expiration date on this.

Besides, I really don't like political subs to Threadless. It's one thing to include some social commentary of some sort, but making a wholly political shirt doesn't seem to fit the point of the site.

Maybe that's just me though.

Its so much easier to sit at home and be anti-war. At the end of the day the fact of the matter is you're afraid. You'll never know what it means to fight and to serve a good grater than you desirve. This is what any military member would proudly tell anyone like you. Much like I just did.
wrestle_this
wrestle_this on Feb 17 '06
Nice design, but it doesnt convey the message unless you get a closer look... and even then, war is war... people die to save the lives of others, they are honored to serve, and we shouldnt deny them that opportunity...

It really is a wonderful concept and very well conveyed.

I love how many people are complaining about your anti-war statement. "Only 2%" they say- as if even 2% isn't enough death! Any death, on either side, is a monumental reason to oppose war.

It's a good idea, I'm all for supporting our troops and all of that.. It just doesnt seem like a "threadless design" to me personaly. Im sure people would buy this up. If you dont get printed atleast sell it on cafepress.com or something. Good design though. You put a lot of thought into it
