I would love a DNA shirt. However, if you're going to add text like that, you need to make it look... better.

I'd recommend bulleted numbers for each section, and then like, a legend. Look at real technical drawings, blurprints, schematics, etc.

It's good, but just not good enough.

You get a 3 for the idea.

meatvision? the ability to see meat? is that intentional?

what is meatvision?

I think the text is actually perfect. Reminds me of my chemistry textbook. I'm debating between a 4 and a 5. Who gives a zero? What drugs were you smoking before you logged on?
lookpolish
lookpolish on Feb 10 '06
It's deoxyribonucleic, not dioxyribonucleic.

Is meatvision a "Fairly Oddparents" reference?

yes, meatvision is quite intentional.

i saw it on fairly oddparents when i was babysitting, and i thought it was quite humorous.

ahh bio... you have some excellent deoxyribonucleic acid there. nice work.

I don't like how there is nothing abnormal about the actual strand of DNA... the way I look at it, if there was no text, then it'd just be a normal DNA shirt, and that's boring.
Pico
Pico on Feb 10 '06
The nitrogen bases of the nucleotides don't match like they should, because in real DNA they always pair up in the same way; adenine with thymine, guanine with cytosine (e.g. black with green, red with blue).
CuteLittleFaery
CuteLittleFaery on Feb 10 '06
You added the ability to squeeze into their tight costumes! Awesome!

Fix the spelling of "deoxyribonucleic" and lose the space in "and/or". Also, this is just a personal nitpick, but I'd like this more if you didn't use "ability to" twice. Perhaps "talent for shutting people up" or something like that.

I really would love to see this get printed.

to Misster: shut up. if you don't get the subject matter, don't vote at all.

to Pico: i understand about the nucleotides matching up, but this is superhero DNA! not a normal person's.

and finally, great design! as a science dork, (i go to a college with "sciences" in the official name) i love this. $5 + buy

bouncingdropkick: It's such a fundamental part of DNA is all. I know it's "superhero" DNA, but it just looks unintentional and that's what bothers me about it.

I went to the best engineering college in my state, and while I do appreciate this design, I can't help but feel nitpicky about the little things ;o)

I like this, but it's yet another example of why scientists get pissed at artists. It takes a hell of a lot more than two base pairs to code for a genetic trait. Of course, a chromosome wouldn't look nearly as interesting as a DNA strand on this shirt.

meatvision....does that sound weird to anyone else? Not everyone watches nickolodeon shows.

and, serif fonts look bad in small chunks of text.

i personally think u don't need DNA and the explanation of what it is, the tidbit about mutations would be enough.

the perspective on the brackets are kinda weird, if it's going away towards the right corner, shouldn't the brackets get closer to the DNA?

Last but not least, the strand doesn't look superhero-ish, looks like a simple DNA strand missing the ends. make it cool =]

Love the idea though.

meatvision = the best super power. EVER.

also nin-chu people stare at boobs all the time. get over it.

$4, i agree it needs to look more...real. textbooky.

kind of off.

in real dna
blue = green
and red=black
if thats the case then
black =/= blue.
get it?

its not supposed to be 100% realistic....im in bio currently, i know DNA.

how else can you develope meat vision without some anomalies?
slightlycool
slightlycool on Feb 12 '06
this is definitely an excellent amount of nerdy for me... it's a $5, assuming the spelling gets fixed. i would look quite the fool going to bio class with dioxyribonucleic written on my shirt! don't let the science bubble-bursters affect the design... superheroes have super-strong DNA... the other chromosomes are just for back-up.
Exiled Angel
Exiled Angel on Feb 13 '06
Meatvision is a bit obscure to appeal to all people, if you changed it to supervision or similar that would be better. I'd definitely buy it for my boyfriend but only if it came in blue (he only wears blue).

Superheros are special they can have any dna colour they want!!
but i think people would have to stare real close to your chest to read it... which i think is a bad thing?
Sari_C
Sari_C on Feb 13 '06
I like it a lot but i fear that the text is too small and I honestly wouldn't want people staring at my chest to read it.

kiddvicious on Feb 14 '06
I like the idea, but the execution could be improved. I think it would be neat if it more closely resembled a diagram from a biology textbook, you know? The font isn't quite right. And the DNA strand is a little too stylized. Maybe a straight up and down alignment? The concept is really cool though. Please stick with this one.
kiddvicious
kiddvicious on Feb 14 '06
Oh. And just for the record. I am not hip enough to get the Meatvision reference, but just the sound of it is very appealing to me. Meatvision, eh? I like. It appeals to me.
inayellowsub
inayellowsub on Feb 14 '06

verite on Feb 15 '06
I like the design a whole lot and would definitely buy it. However, i feel like it would be really really great if it was just simplified a little. I like the definition and graphic, but i feel like maybe the specific traits could be minimized in number...something simpler but still on the same idea.

Wunderbar though, really. definite buy.
SeraphNoctum
SeraphNoctum on Feb 16 '06
yeah...this woulda been better if it were a chromosome map instead.... too nerdy and yet not nerdy enough if you get down to the technicalities XD
mrblue96
mrblue96 on Feb 16 '06
I like the idea except for a couple of the genes...meatvision and the ability to fit thighs in tights. Meatvision is esoteric and since I dont know what it is I'm less likely to wear a shirt advertising something I know nothing about. And the thigh thing...obviously meant for women since men could give a shit.
