it's neither, methinks: it's a "shoggoth," a lovecraftian abomination from outside of human history. The Old Ones created them a beasts of burden after they seeped down from the heavens, etc etc.

i wish this illustration was played straight, tho, rather than cartoony. but keep up the Unkowable stuff.

That's not a shoggoth. A shoggoth shirt would be sweet, though. But that's clearly an octopus in a jar.
