The template says "Simian Soliloquy" because that was the first title I came up with, but I liked "The Monkey's Monologue" better; anyway, I left "Simian Soliloquy" on the template, but it would not go on the shirt.
The colors used are white and two tones of gray - 3 colors total.

hey blacksheep I think this has a really nice start. I have a couple comments/changes that I would suggest. One is moving the design placement on the shirt. It would be cool to have it off-center, maybe over to the left more on the shirt and adding some height to the design, maybe show more of the background cutting through above those heavy tree branches that currently create the top boundary. I also think the monkey needs to be moved to the left inside this composition. Right now, he kinda throws us right out of the piece with his hand shooting to the side and the skull creates this tangent line with the side borders. I know that's a long critique, but I think this has a lot of potential so I wanted to give an in-depth response. Its a cool piece.

ooo... i like it a lot. either move the monkey a tiny bit to the right so the skull overlaps the black (you could achieve the same result by making him a tiny bit larger too), thus bringing the skull into the foreground, or as was suggested by rockslide, move him aa bit to the left so there's a bit of space between the skull and the border.

those are pretty minor complaints though -- high score anyway 'coz this is great.

Rockslide: I see what you mean, and I agree on all three points. I hadn't thought about the monkey being to much to the right or about changing the design's placement, but now that you mention it, I think you're right ; I had thought about adding some foliage above the heavy tree branches though, and your comment reinforces that point.

I really appreciate your help on this one, and all comments/crits are welcome; especially coming from you, man! : ) The fact that you see so much potential in this one reassures me I'm on the right track, which is awesome!

I love this. I want to see it made into a shirt so I can buy it... right now. But still, I have a few things.

As far as the critiques I've been reading though, I have to say I agree and I disagree, and here's what I mean. I like the graphic centered on the shirt. The trend right now seems to be to move a shirt's graphics all over the shirt like it makes some gesture of artistic expression. If you have just a little design or a few words or something, that's fine, but when you have a complete image like this it should be in the center. The image is the fashion and the shirt's just a canvas. Throwing it off center just makes it just another graphic on just another shirt.

On the other hand, I do agree that the monkey should be moved to the left more. I like the feeling of him being entrapped (meaning, contrary to what another user posted, nothing should escape the blackness outside the graphic) but the skull seems to be a bit too snug with the edge of the picture and it feels awkward because of it.

Finally, I think the image should be a bit bigger. Only a bit though--10% overall increase or so, if that. Maybe adding more foliage like the other user suggested would do the trick, but either way I think the image gets lost and becomes sort of indistinguishable. I want to be able to show this fancy piece of talent with pride.
