its adorable, i think just having the cat in the food containor with out the hands would create a better since of ambiguity

since it is a stereo type that the eating of cats is comen place in some asian countries, when in fact that steriotype is false, not because eating cats never happens, but because its considered a sacred dish.

i wouldnt say the shirt is racist necisarily, but it does play on steriotypes and pokes fun at a sacred tradition.

Actually, I came up with the idea because I wanted to wear this shirt, and I would. I also asked several friends of mine if they'd wear it and it got positive reviews. I had the same exact thought yesterday. Yet at the same time it's kind of hard to compare the two, since Cows are sacred in India and cats aren't here (unless you're a wackjob cat lady). Cats, a sacred dish in Asian cuisine? I don't think so! Just another source of meat.

My bf is Asian, and one of his all-time favorite gross-out stories is about a cat being cooked for eating. I won't let him tell the story around me because it is so disgusting (the method - it would be disgusting applied to any animal, cute or not). But they don't really eat cats in the US; it's simply not socially acceptable. You're right, at least the Asians I have known, have been very up front that cats are eaten in parts of Asia - dogs too - but also that it is not done in the US. It's socially acceptable in the places it is done.

I love this sub - I think it's well drawn - but I also am a cat-lover in the US, and would never, ever wear it.
