A sub inspired by the art of Rob Dobi. Please tell me which placement looks best.

Well damn. I was going to say that Dobi wanted his Tee-shirt designs back, and you come in all "INSPIRED BY FULLBLEED" and I was all damn.

The only complaint I have is that the bombs at the bottom kind of need to be a little smaller for proportional reasons...other than that it's a great design.

the design is ok, but i still prefer Dobi's designs. :P

ok... as in plane, dropping stuff, followed by an out-of-place person. i am aware its not exactly the same, it just reminds me of the other design (which i totally prefer)

I know Rob Dobi does this stuff. I'm not trying to copy him, nor am I saying that I am just as good as him. This was jst a shirt that I designed when I was inspired by his work. I know about fullbleed.org. I own 7 of his shirts that he has designed. This is just my attempt at something along the same lines. thanks for the comments.

I'd say one of the off-centre placements are best for this design.

think of something more original next time , dont take someone elses products and try and pass them off as your own.

I never tried to pass these off as my own. I gave credit to Rob Dobi and all of his greatness. I know this looks like his thursday shirt and "surf's up" from the season 3 fullbleed line, but that's exactly it, its something INSPIRED by those two. But you will notice that it is not exactly like those two, i didn't copy and paste the exact design. I am just as sensative about people taking others work but this situation is idfferent. My name on here is DobiFan... i'm a fan of Dobi, i would NEVER steal anything of his and try to pass it off as my own. never have, never will.



artblakey: The nuke sign was an experiment. I was half hesitant to take it off cause I thought some people wouldn't enjoy it. Obviously at least one person doesn't like it [or only one has voiced their opinion about it] but i feel that if I do take it off it will give more reason for the above people to claim that I stole rob dobi's work. I don't know... we'll see.

have you thought about shrinking the image an placing it on the side under the sleeve? that's just another option, i don't know how well it would work out if you actually did it though.

that is a good idea... if threadless can print "oh dearly departed lovers" on the sleeve then I think they can work with somthing under the arm. It might be difficult with screenprinting and all but it's possible.

After reading through all these comments, I'd just like to say that I don't think anyone's accusing you of copying Dobi - at least not in the strictess sense. And obvioulsy you acknowledge him as an influence. However, you are taking an original concept he has used - a man using an umbrella to protect himself from falling bombs dropped by bombers - and really not changing it in any substantial way. It's not so much the imagery as the concept that's really being lifted here. There are ways to be inspired by someone but to still do work that is original to you. I'd really like to see you come up with something that's in the spirit of Rob Dobi - it could even use the same style of imagery - but with concept that is totally your own. It's tough, but that's what designing is all about. Best of luck.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy this. It's nice, but the actual Fullbleed shirts are better and more original.



Nice job, but you should be making new designs of your own, not copying others. You're obviously capable of it.

and if it happened to win.. your saying dobi would pat you on the back and say good job? He is not God either, although he may think he is.
