this would've been much better had the germ shapes resembled countries

I like that it's not overtly countries - but you get it anyway. Good job. I'd buy it for my biochemistry teaching sister. She'll love it!

I woulda liked it a tiny bit more like countries- but still globby and germy...

Normally what you see growing in petri dishes is either bacteria or mold.

Mold grows in large rounded shapes. But do you think of mold first, or something like bacteria, when you think of "germ warfare"?

I'm going with bacteria.

Bacteria grow in small dots, not large shapes like mold.

My point is that on the continuum between country shapes and bacteria, this design is *way* closer to country shapes (and thus, I feel, doesn't need to look any more like contries in order to convey both the "germ" and the "warfare (between countries)".

Then again, to those who draw no distinction between mold and bacteria when thinking of petri dishes, it makes more sense to be more country-like.

I am so overthinking this.

pish posh- I'm a lab rat too and trust me.... You can get some pretty funky mold if you leave your plates out long enough. (We had one that was an amorphous glob with ridges and bumps....looked a bit like a piece of coral... and another that was fuzzy like a sheep.... and my favorite (my baby! ) one that was round, fuzzy and green with a clovershaped white, pink and yellow center.)

My pointe? who cares if bacteria and molds really grow in little dots?...you can streak them out in any shape that pleases you =P

Hmm, to me it looks as if those lines indicate that the germs move across the dish, kind of like guide lines. I think some indication of battleships or something would make it clearer.

Maybe if they were more than just dotted lines---tiny mushroom clouds and ICBMs?

I like lankytom's idea of mushroom clouds
ending up being actual small mushrooms.

I didn't get it without the title. And make them look more like the US and Russia or something, or maybe the dotted lines look like little bombs.

....The mushroom thing sounds cute.... but I love my bacteria. especially with blood agar. but..... I think I might like it like this. It'd be a bit hard to get the whole circular thing going, since the color does fade as you move away from the epicenter.

I like.

I'd like to see which way the dots are supposed to be going. Have a little bomb or some kind of bloody explosion where it is supposed to hit. Of course you might be trying to do that with orange dotted lines from orange countries/germs.

I still like it as it is though. So $4

I agree with a couple of the other comments that I love the idea but am not too sure about the style. It either needs a bit more detail to add realism or less detail to be more like a diagram. I'm not sure which.

I didn't really understand without the title. Maybe, as others have said, more countryish. But, I don't understand why designers here are so objected to captions. A tiny "germ warfare" would do the trick.

A shirt could become a lot wittier with a couple of words on it. But, then again, maybe images should speak for themselves...

are those globs supposed to be countries? they are right? so... make them less deformed

interesting.

I like the idea.

Has anybody played that game where your tanks and you shoot at either bots or another person playing? You'd either try to blow them up or cover them in dirt so they eventually damange their own tank. A very basic game.

Well, back to the design. It reminds me of that game.

4 for that.

If you can't sell it here, definately submit it to a 'nerd store' of some type.
