I LOVE the De Stijl Meal!

But...

What if you made it more 3D, so there was a tray, and the food read more as food (It could still be coloured)? Then the whole concept would be incorporated into the art, instead of needing to know the description.

The concept is great, but this reads as a Modrian with cutlery.

Your knife is facing the wrong way, though perhaps this is a postmodern take on place settings?

Too funny.

Good idea, but (as JDT commented earlier) it needs more---detail, nuance, what have you---for the parody to stick. Otherwise, it's just flatware surrounding some De Stijl.

i def could do that, and almost did, i would have to see if the Mondrian would read correctly in that situation. decided to go with something simple and straight forward

i think it would be nifty if you worked the utensils into the design to create what looks like a single art piece. As is, the utensils look like they were just hastily attached...

I think it's nearly perfect the way it is. No more detail is needed.

i think you could do more with stylization (did i just make up that word?)

just as people have said before, add more depth to make it less straightforward. don't be afraid to play around with the tray; people will still recognize the art.

one year in art class we had a project where we had to paint a plate to look like a famous painting. one girl did that. it looked like that, only circular.

i hate deja vu.

but i like this shirt.

it's one of those jokes that if you weren't an artist you wouldn't get. Just like the shirt "neopolitan bonipart" is a shirt most people wouldn't get. I like it though...4.

maybe integrate the utensils more or give them more dimension so they contrast w/the plate. its got just the right amount of pretentiousness-- love it!

I totally agree with JDT, make it seem more like food.
