Interesting idea, I like how the wings have hands.

My attention is drawn to the butter knife, because it's the only thing that is outlined. Be consistent with outlining, maybe?

I thought of that, but my fear was that the knife would get lost and muddled with the hand. And anyway, like you said it draws some of the attention to the bottom part of the design which balances it out since there's so much white at the top.
