Rockslide on Jan 03 '06 that's pretty cool stinger, I like it a lot. I think the only suggestion I have is that the overall shape of the piece is a bit lacking to me. I think it would have been cool to see on the sides a little more play with the negative space. Like seeing some of the blue water poke through the coral. I don't know if that makes sense. Patches of the water blue off in the total navy blue at the bottom sides. I still really like it though, good job, fun shirt.

I find the overall shape of the design is stunning- I just love how it's not square, or any specific shape. I really like everything you've done with this.

stingerstyler on Jan 05 '06 oh, crap... I wake up and see this link. That's weird. I can't say there's no similarities, but I can say that I've never seen this image in my life.
If you see my blog about this sub, you can see how it evolved. As I said in the first posting, I got the idea during a LOST episode where a character called Sawyer was in the water with a shark and filmed from below (there was no shark in the picture, only the atmosphere of it striking any time soon.). The first sketch I made was only of a swimmer and some sharks, and later I added the cave as a border. All images can be found at my blog, I added a link to the first sketch as well. |

this design is in no way an "almost exact copy" of that book cover. the book cover, like this image, is an underwater view of a person swimming with sharks nearby. do you think anyone who uses that idea is making a copy? no, they are not. you are an idiot for thinking so. you are mean because putting that sort of comment here is going to give random passersby the wrong idea about stingerstyler's submission here. people will glance at your comment, they won't realize you're a mean spirited idiot, and they will just give the submission a bad vote. and that's mean: this is a good original submission, and it deserves better treatment from the community than you've given it. |

sharks and swimmers don't belong to R.L. Stine, Clemonspike. or to JAWS, or to stringerstyler for that matter. it's a pretty timeless concept, and stringerstyler's given it a marvelous treatment.

I -really- like this. Its not a bird, a tree, a heart, or a monster (nothing against those type of shirts!), but still maintains enough style to really draw in people. The diffusion of detail from the bottoms little fishies to the ripples is very well done. Good job, I hope this gets printed.

Gorgeous. I'm a sucker for fishy/water scenes, and this one creates depth so well with its "foreground." A fun change from the sea designs that mask what's below the surface rather than what's above it. 5.
