CRAMitYou ... is it just my imagination, or do I keep seeing you yelling at people saying designs are copyrighted? If an illustration is going to infringe on a copyright, I'm sure that Threadless isn't going to print it. I don't see any need for us to become copyright police suddenly.

By the way, nice design, streetwise. I'd definitely wear it... makes me smile. =D

Sweet. I agree that the salt canister/spilling salt could use work. Maybe make the canister smaller? 4$.

Love it. I agree, tho, the salt can should just be rolling away at her feet level. Very well parodied.

CRAMitYOU - holy cow, let Threadless worry about the freaking copyright. If they can't print it becuase of copyright laws then they won't that's not something for US to worry about. Jeez.

Quite right. Others deserve it, this one doesn't. There's a decided change in the use of the original image here.

I don't like how the upper left hand corner of the rain makes a hard edge /right angle. Maybe a little more natural and not quite so square? Otherwise, I like the image of the girl. The salt can could use a little work. 3 as is.

This is pretty funny. I went down and looked, and this is just the Morton Salt Girl when it is really pouring.

Isn't this just very very funny?

i like the illustration, but i really don't understand - maybe because i'm english? is there any chance someone could explain?
secretlyironic
secretlyironic on Dec 28 '05
This is brilliant. For those who don't get the reference, it's a parody of the illustration on the cover of Morton's Salt, whose slogan is "When it rains, it pours" -- that is, the salt won't clump in humid weather. The label shows a girl with an umbrella pouring salt. If the weather got a lot worse, you'd see the girl like this.

The salt canister might need a bit of work, but the concept is brilliant and I love the drawing. Five.

23ryanB on Dec 28 '05
thats awesome, i dont think it even needs the salt canister but if you want to keep it, maybe try drawing it sketchy like you drew the umbrella. great job

hey everyone, and happy new year. thanks for the feedback and all the great comments. now, at least, i know that salt is NaCl, instead of C1. and, the salt canister can blow away, since that seems to be the overall feeling. it probably would've blown blocks away or been smashed by a cab after that huge storm gust. cheers.
mikemills
   mikemills on Dec 29 '05
Not to be difficult, but I think the salt could stay. It's obviously just done in the style of the original, and it doesn't seem like it would be complete without it - I would be wondering what happened to the dang salt canister if it wasn't there...
streetwise
   streetwise on Dec 29 '05
Good point mikemills! maybe the canister just needs a little more attention, i noticed the oval on the back isn't perfect, and it may need some highlights or shadows. (-;
