About my design
by travis76
An unofficial emblem of the global elite...the Illuminati, the Conspiracy, the owners of the world and everyone on it....
secret societies...global war in the name of peace....the monopolization of everything....the owning, copyrighting and profiting of things that should belong to everyone.
Things done by men 'in the name of God' that can only be explained if there were no God. (hence 'in dio absentia' - 'in god's absence')

where am i going with this?- i don't know. I just fit a bunch of iconology together into something that i thought looked cool, then tried to find my subconcious reason for it.
It's true, i used ALOT of premade dings in this piece. in fact, the only thing 'DRAWN' by me are the spatters....this was also an experiment to prove that context, placement and alteration of existing readymade art can still mean original design.

looks good on bright colors like blue, green and orange. negative spaces like the sword blade, the eye and the globe will be that of the shirt color.

The lobsterman model was originally made to sport a lobster theme shirt that didn't get made in time.
...but in a strange coincidence, i think there is a CONSPIRACY website called lobster.co.uk or something......hmmmmm.

This one is really cool travis. I like how it is just straight clean graphics. I love your people and line drawings, I wish there were more of them up, like the robot derby shirt. Your drawing skills are pretty flippin' hot and inspirational, which makes it funny that I really like this shirt, not having any of your drawing at all. I guess it just shows what a good overall designer you are. Good work man!

I dont think I need to explain my tshirt to someone everytime someone asks... and they will with this one. If you dont have an idea why your doing it then why.

----------------I dont think I need to explain my tshirt to someone everytime someone asks... and they will with this one. If you dont have an idea why your doing it then why.--------------------------

you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.

the point of our design revolution was to
1) change up our styles a bit
2)stray away from obvious jokes and even perhaps meaning at all
3) to focus on design, wherever it took us. you can improv anything, even tee design

I love it and I would buy the shirt, but just so you know, the Latin's wrong. It should be In dei absentia or In absentia dei. Deo is the ablative, so the shirt says "in god (and) absence". Fix that and the shirt's perfect.
technicolordream
technicolordream on Dec 11 '05
i didnt read the description, but i would get the shirt just cause i didnt under stand it .

good call on the latin- i will fix it easily if that's the case.

Sweet design, Trav. I'd sport it...even WITH the latin typo.

atombender on Dec 12 '05
I really love this design, and I'd definitely buy it, but I'm kinda confused about the message.

I guess I don't understand why you're saying that things done in the name of God prove God's absence...

---roughly, men in power do things 'in the name of god' (war-etc) that men would only do if they didn't believe in a god, and thought that thier power was absolute......or do things in the name of god that would surely make god cry.
Ma1agate
Ma1agate on Dec 13 '05
ah, so mindless random iconography with no clear message?

so you're vomiting a cacophany of images driven by paranoid delusion onto a mini walking billboard and you admittedly don't have a point.

so tell me why this deserves anything but the lowest possible score?

The only thing that wearing this shirt will do is spread more half-baked, off-base ideas among our generation, which (if you're really honest) you'll admit has no clue where it is going or what the images really mean.

That's _EXACTLY_ the kind of crap that needs to be spread around, worn on a tshirt by our clueless peers. Yeah, all in the name of looking cool and having a tshirt nobody else has.

you get the heartbreaker, no question.

I can appreciate that, travis, and I think I understand you more than you think I do.

Didn't intend to be so vicious about it, sorry about that. I love almost all of your other work.

But I still don't care for this particular design.

Sorry.

Um, I'm not sure why everyone else thinks this is so awesome. I don't think art needs an 'explanation' and I'm also surprised everyone isn't saying "the image is too big on the shirt!" as they often do.

I guess it's just not doing much for me... Sorry.
