About my design
by woofles
What's in YOUR obi?

My second submission! Playing around with the colours and textures was the best part. Red works the best as the background because of the Nihon flag on her purse, but it'd also make a nice subdued shirt with the Chocolate.

Hope ya like! <33

well, as much of a fan of Japanese stuff I am, I'm afraid I really don't like the coloration. That is an awful green to go with the white of her skin color or maybe it is just the shirt color...

There is also something about the face that bothers me... It doesn't seem very geisha-ish to me. maybe it is too round... hmm

oh, and lose the characters or relocate them. As you have such a strong central image, the inclusion of those characters detracts from the image. Maybe put them on the back or somewhere else... just not there.

Finally, I hate to be reaaaally nitpicky (though this is actually the most important), but her kimono is folded in the method of a corpse. One should put the left side over the right, not the right side over the left.

err, anyway, good luck!

I like it! her face looks natural to me, and I like the colors, but maybe move the characters to the sleeve.

I like it. I'd buy it in the chocolate.

Hmm... maybe if I just mirrored the image the kimono would be better. And I agree, putting the characters on the back right under the neckline would be like ten times sweeter.

Not sure what's wrong with the face though, since I even loosely used a reference for it. I always thought Asian women had rounder faces, especially when smiling. Maybe the detail is just lost on the small size. Would a close-up help?

Gaah.

Since you pointed out the "corpse" folding it's been bothering me to the point of obsession. D:

A fixed version. Since I don't feel like waiting another whole week for this to be accepted AGAIN, let's just hope they let me use the modified graphic IF this gets printed. And that's definetely a big fat IF.

the only thing that really bothers me is how some things are outlined in black and some things aren't. The way her hands look next to the outlined purse just seems funny. It seems like the purse just stands out too much.

The purse seems to float and detract from her face.
Perhaps allowing it to move into the background would bring back the idea of the headphones into focus.

Also, green and red shirt? GAH.
I'd buy it if it was on a dark grey or black.

I absolutely love it kat! It was well worth all the time and the effort put into it and once it's passed I'm gonna be waiting right here to purchase it... it better be freaking passed.

I love the contrast of colors from her face and her dress and the color of the shirt. I love the hands and the basket thingy. I think it's done very well!

I would buy it on a dark blackish gray shirt though... even though I really like the red...

that's just my emo-ness showing though :)

Lovely work!

love the design, but you SERIOUSLY need to kill the black outline on the little purse and on the cloth sticking out from behind her. Colors are great. Love it on red. $4

I agree on it being a little too Christmas and on the black outlines. Just outline everything in black (or nothing, I suppose) and don't print on a red shirt. It'd look great on gray.
