Do you know we exist?
We all live in the city.
Illusion of timelessness.
Please don't chase the clouds!
Do you know we are ruled by TV?
Being drunk is a good disguise.
Modern life is a journey by car.
The brain is filled with clocks.
Did you know freedom exists in a school book?
Can we resolve the past? Come 'ere; I love you.
Events take place beyond our knowledge or control.
Destroy roofs, walls, see in all the rooms at once.
Haven't I been thorough enough? Everything was simpler.
We have assembled inside this ancient and insane theatre.
Inside the dream, button sleep around your body like a glove.
I can perceive events on other worlds, in my deepest inner mind.
Camera, as all seeing god, satisfies our longing for omniscience.
It is wrong to assume that art needs the spectator in order to be.

did you "borrow" some of that kid from "Distant Future" not the wisest choice to take from a previous winner if you ask me.

good luck.

Thanx guys!
Honestly, I wouldn't copy it... added to the fact that it would be totally wrong, there are too many trainspotters at Threadless ;)

franx's observation about the kid
from "Distant Future" is on target.

Here's the URL for the design franx mentioned.

oh jeez. that's too close for comfort.

no matter whether you made the kid yourself or not, i don't like how the sketchiness style combines with the style of the kid.

it's absolutely impossible that you made that kid "from scratch"... so i'm guessing the rest of the design is probably not from scratch either.

the kid is not close enough to the "distant future" kid to severely bother me. the two kids have little to no physical resemblence and they are in different artistic styles. the only thing they share is the pose.
maybe another case of subconscious?
im more trusting than the average threadless user apparently.
past that, this shirt is excellent

really snazzy shirt, although it does look like the Distant Future kid...

fred_andres on Nov 13 '05
Check the shading of the kid's hair, his ear, and right arm. Exactly the same.

Possibly used as a POR; none the less, the design lacks sound concept for threadless.
Kaleidoscope*swe*
Kaleidoscope*swe* on Nov 13 '05
the kid is stolen... you just took the top part from distant future and titlted his head... thats just stupid

why would you ruin your design by copying such a small thing.. you could just find a picture of google and trace it or something and it would have been ok. Well i am not giving this a good score now...

I just examined both heads and They are exact.
---
come on. The same little sprig of hair in the front? the SAME highlight in the head? The little fold in the shirt above the pants? The bulge in the tricep area of his right arm?
---
Why take something of somebody else's just do it yourself.

Being a ninja never looked so good it is extrememly similar. you're saying it "looks nothing like it". to say its not a copy is one thing...to say it "looks nothing like it" is another. are you guys best friends or something?
willypiva
willypiva on Nov 13 '05
I have no problem recognizing that it is similar, and that "Distant future" is great, and probably, much better than my submission, however, I did not copied it...

penpal: I don't know any of the guys/girls that posted...

Thanx to some for the support!

i wanted to make a shirt with random stick people on them, considering i draw 1 every day, but i dont know how to put it on threadless.

i didnt mean it to you willypiva (even though its your design)...i meant it to that person (being a ninja never looked so good). they said that it looked totally different...and all i was saying is that it looked similar.

the sad thing is this design would look better without the kid anyway
Omaha
Omaha on Nov 14 '05
i think it's impossible to refute the fact that the top half of the Distant Future kid is used as an exact template for this kid. the arms are exactly the same, you can practically draw the balloon on.

regardless of that detail, the rest of the shirt is wonderful.

as has been said, the plagiarised kid doesn't really fit in and does spoil it however.

its just a kid
one has long pants the other one have shorts---

for me its not a copy but they look similar...

.....This reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright for some reason. And thus, it's Paul Simon, too. Ack. I like it, but it seems a bit.... haphazard. I don't know. I'm ambivalent.

If you say the duplicate boy was a subconcious accident, I'm willing to believe that. But everybody's right, anyway, about the boy being unneeded anyway. There's so much going on, you don't need the boy. And as far as not allowing resubmissions, people do it *ALL* the time here. Look in the design archives of any big submitter on Threadless (and by big, I mean they have many entries), and I'm willing to bet on 85% of them, one of their designs is a tweaked resubmit. Give it a shot, maybe they'll allow it...it would be worth the effort for such a possibly great design.

I beleive it's a new policy on threadless due to the large number of subs on the running every week...
