2nd submission. I know yall tired of seein designs related to music, but I had to do this one. For those who are deaf, they never really get to appreciate listening to music. While we hear different sounds everyday, they only get to hear one, nothing. This design goes out to them.

Now I think the headphones make it look wack. :(

i don't think the sign language is right...although it has been a while since 5th grade when we used to cheat with sign language so maybe not.

The sign language is off if you are using ASL or LSF, I'm not familiar with other sign styles but most people would use ASL. the M is wrong and the S hand should be fingers towards us - not to the side, the U, I and C are all how they would look to the person signing and not to the person getting the message - I don't know if that is intentional or not

a 30 second google search pulled up lots of images for the correct way http://www3.sympatico.ca/daedpa/fingerspelling.jpg

The M is actually the thumb placed between the ring and the pinky finger with all 4 fingers curled down. And yes, the S is a fist... and generally the signer signs with the right hand so the C would be facing the correct way to the viewer.

Deaf people don't typically listen to music. Nice shirt tho.

And the signs are right. As long as you meant to use ASL. (my brother and sister are deaf).

and uhh... Deaf people DO listen to music. They often feel the groovy tempo and dance very well.

However, nice idea. But this language is not universal. We, in Quebec, are using LSQ.

I know the idea is different but the look and style are very similar to 'Rock How To':

Not accusing you of copying, I just doubt that this design would make it onto the catalogue when something when it's so close to something that's already there.

Nice try, but as those before have already stated, the sign language is a little wacky. If you're going to resubmit, using ASL, then I do have one thing to throw in.

If you're going to flip the 'c' so that it's facing the "proper" way, then make sure to do the same with all the signs. Right now you've got the 'm' looking a little strange and the 's' at the wrong angle, but the 'u,' the 'i,' and the 'c' are all from the signer's view. If you flip the 'c,' make sure to flip them all so that they are all from the view of the reader.

Which means for 'm' you'll be seeing the fist straight-on with the thumb between the pinkie and ring finger, for the 'u' you'll be seeing the reversed view of what you've currently got, for the 's' you'll be seeing the fist straight-on, for the 'i' you'll be seeing the reverse of what you've currently got, and for the 'c' you'll also be seeing the reverse of what you've currently got.

Instead of headphones I'd suggest perhaps using speakers with little lines to signify vibrations coming out from them the fact that the deaf don't 'listen' to music is TECHNICALLY right, but still a misguided statement for someone attempting to talk for the entire Deaf community. But really it is more about the beat and vibration, so showing that instead would be great.

Eep, I hope you didn't think I was being rude. I'm not at all trying to say that this wasn't a well-thought-out idea. In fact, I really hope that you do make enough changes to resubmit it without it being considered a duplicate, and I hope you go through this process again and end up winning. I /really/ want a shirt like this, and would /probably/ buy as-is if it ended up winning anyway! It's a great concept, I just feel like it could be better conveyed in a slightly different manner.

fix the letters and the headphones are cool, but i think they would look better in the same spot, but on the back.

this is one of the coolest shirts I've come across. The idea touches me on levels you'll never understand, but the execution is off, the speakers is waves would be hardcore cool, and with corrected signs this would easily slip in with the rest of my shirts.

As stated before, fabulous idea ... just better execution with the correct ASL signs. :) Wanted to make sure you got the praise you deserve for the idea.

I, perseonally, prefer the irony of the headphones ... but that might just be me.

I'm taking a Deaf culture class and it's awesome. I've been learning a lot and one of the pretty widespread belief s that deaf people hear nothing, or live in a silent world, is actually false. Nice design, though.
