This one has a future if you can figure out how to walk a line.

On the one hand, absent the title, this looks more like a walnut than poo, and so the joke doesn't really work for the casual observer in the "not-obvious-enough" way.

On the other hand, if it's obviously poo, or if you say "poo" in the text, then the shirt doesn't work in the "too-obvious" way.

I don't think you're got the tradeoff right here. The title has attracted its share of poo-lovers, but without the title it doesn't work (for me, and I would love a subtle joke of this sort). How can you make it really poo-looking without looking too obvious? I don't know....

i like this shrit. i think the text is what sells the poo for me anyway. looks like someone got a little poo on their finger. and the dung beatle is thinking "I WILL NOT BE DINIED!!"

Thankyou Steve Swartz I think you are right. It does sit on the line.
Other titles for this were : " Jackpot " and " You Dung Good ".
Hopefully there are enough Animal Planet watchers out there
that this design will prevail.
This picture was from a childrens book I started on years ago. The beetle was going to ride on the back of a Wildabeasts rump threw the annual migration and it was going to be about all the hardships and dangers they go through just for a little poo. Then I realised no Soccer Mom would buy this story for their kid. Lets make a shirt! LOL

I honestly would prefer what you said in your first post - the text "Livin' the dream" over what you have but it's still awesome. 5$

FYI - Dung beetles roll their dung balls with their hind legs. They also have a different shape, but that's not as big of a deal. I like the idea, dung beetles are cool creatures who actually use the polarized light of the moon to navigate at night. They should be given the respect they deserve and accurately portrayed on your shirt. Fix it and $5

For a picture of an actual beetle pushing dung see:

Absolutely slpeden, its a small oversight but he needs to be up on his front two legs. Also, his carapace reminds me too much of a cockroach and not a Dung Beetle. Other than that its a great idea. With some minor adjustments I would buy in a heartbeat!

Thanks Slpeden. Ya I didn't have a reference photo at the time and was just tring to draw from memory. I haven't seen that edisode of Nature or
Wild Kingdom in some many years. LOL
I know his antenna aren't that long either but it made for a better cartoon at the time. Maybe he is just stopping for a small snack along the way. He has a long trip and so why not stop for a quick bite.
Road side picnic. Thankyou both for your insight . If I ever do decide to
finish the kids book I will be sure to portray him better.

Thanks slpeden for the info.
I had no idea dung beetles aren't
looking where they are going
when traveling with their
dookie ball.

about the design :

The shadow under the dookie
ball needs to be bigger.
