oh i think it's adorable. honestly. the only gripe i have is that it doesn't look right being centered. maybe set it lower, down by the side a little? then it would kind of make the whole 'sad and lonely' bit more effective.

Y'know, this was bound to happen. As threadless gains in popularity, and increases the prize booty, the submissions levels increase, and the number of truly awful submissions increases.

This shirt is just plain fugly. If a kid wearing a corrective helmet made this for herself in art class with the other headgear-equipped kids, it'd be just fine. But, compared against the quality of past shirts from threadless, this is just plain bad...

I like the style of your illustrations and this sad cake really does it for me! I can see this shirt worn by my girlfriend...

holy crap that's cute. although i am a fan of centering, i think in this case putting him a little off to the side, and perhaps a little lower would emphasize the loneliness. in addition, if you move him a little, maybe add a little sad shadow near his feet?

I love how the "designers" on here only like something that has been gone over in illustrator for 1000 hours and looks like everything else. It's called illustrative style, and this is a style. Just because something looks rough does not mean it has not been thought out.

"Designers" - Not everyone wants immaculately vectored, multi-layered, oh-so-cool-and-derrivative designs that you find in "Computer Arts" and other such magazines. Some people want this kind of stuff. And they want it on T-Shirts, because it looks boss.

just like to point out that kate spade did a whole ad campaign with children's illustrative drawings this spring, and it was obviously effective, just like this tee :D

One is the loneliest number I guess. Cute! Sad! Reminds me a little of the art from Katamari Damacy (the funky hand illustrated stuff you can find on the official site), only simpler.

Hmmmm... I think some of the lines could stand to be a little thicker though, the whole thing seems kind of weak to me.

i'd rather see self-consciously simple scribble drawings, than submissions by people who've clearly just learned to throw photoshop brushes together and think it means they can 'design'.

I like the style, though I think it needs another color (a lighter blue than the shirt) to pull it together a bit more. I'd use the lighter blue as a slightly thicker line underneath the dark blue you've got...and still keep it messy like you've got it.

I dont know, I can still tell theres skill behind the style of drawing that is. Theres a difference between your drawing and a childrens drawing, yours has a definate underlying style thats still pretty visable beneath the first impression.

I agree with some others - I am so sick of the obvious Vector-traces and P-shop layered seen-it-a-million-times stuff. Anybody can learn to trace photos in Illustrator. Some would argue anybody could draw that cupcake - but not everybody did! You did! This is original. Thanks for doing it.

The ability to use Illustrator and/or Photoshop does not make someone a designer. Critical thinking and problem solving skills make one a designer. Using computer software does not make one an illustrator either. Ideas make someone an ittustrator.
Anyone can learn a computer program, not everyone knows why...

Okay, I love this. Cupcakes are the best thing, bcs they are like tiny cakes, and what is better than portable cake!
I personally am never sad when I eat cupcakes, but that may be a reason for cupcakes to be sad around me. I am SO sad that this isn't printed. I normally don't fall in love with shirts at first sight, but this one did it for me. :^}
