Did you use Jacques-Louis David's death portrait of Jean-Paul Marat for any reason?

Not really sure what this is supposed to say. The Marat portrait is extremely famous, so I guess this is supposed to be a parody? What's the heart on the note about?I could be you're trying to get across an idea of unrequited-love-leads-to-suicide, but Marat was famously murdered so that idea wouldn't work with the picture you've chosen. Nicely rendered but very confusing.

to help you out....am a painter... who loves designing...and as any other human we get influnced by surrounding. i love this painting,why not wear it...i think its nice for both people who know jacques louis david's or those who just like an image on a tee.... lets judge the design from color,placing,art work, etc. regardless any other thing from age, sex ,releigion, country,color, etc. we are here to make good designs on t shirts..... : ) welcome and enjoy ! mwah |

i agree. and i like this design. you could have done it in red, but that would have been obvious and stupid. congrats.

Judging the color, placement & artwork... color- eh. Placement- eh. Art work- "vectorized" from someone else's work, not a big accomplishment. heart is silly; arm looks torn off at the elbow.
it's fair to ask what it's supposed to mean- When you make a design that's based on a famous image of a specific political event, you cant just say it doesn't mean anything. |

I do like the image, because I enjoy the original. I don't enjoy the big heart on the note. the colors are nice. |

I do like the image, it's just that I know it takes about 3.2 seconds to use the stencil tool in photoshop.

i love that painting, but this doesn't do it much justice. it kind of seems like your... well i dont know. i wouldnt wear it.

m.u.g- everyone is being pretty nice about your design. no one is trying to be offensive, compared to the designs on other shirts ive seen. i think your taking this too personally

most of the shirts on here can be explained by their title, or at least with a little thought, using marat as iconic art alone is boring to me, its like the Che shirts, half the people who wear it dont know what he did or what he stood for, the shirt was just in Hot Topic.
and i dont want to wear this just cuz it has a cutout image of Marat when the message is not only lost but wasnt there to begin with. good idea but failed in execution |

Maraaat. Also, not as harsh as superdavesaves, but I do agree with the general critique-- this isn't necessarily the best execution of your idea.

m.u.g. there is nothing wrong with the design itself... but the comments here are valid. If the painting doesn't match with the theme, than why use it? Explain to everyone your reason, other than "I like it and it looks pretty and why not." And there ought to be a note underneath the "please be constructive and respectful" to say "If you're going to respond to a criticism please be mature and respectful as well."
Not taking criticism when it is given in a nice and constructive way just makes you look like a child. |

I definitely don't like the heart, but I love the painting in blue. Can't say I am especially fond of the use of the painting, or of your attitude, m.u.g.

Wow. . . this whole idea of ripping others designs to absolute SHREDS is getting ridiculously tired. It's kind of funny that some feel so empowered when they're hiding behind the facade that is a computer. Please stop trying to intellectualize things to death--it becomes a moot point after some time.
If you don't have something nice (or can't RESPECTFULLY explain your dislike) to say, then don't say anything at all. And refrain from words like stupid. |

I agree with green-means-go. There should definitely be a disclaimer added for the designers, too. I've ran into too many arrogant people who CANNOT take constructive criticism at all, and if you can't, than why would you even post your work on a site that that is the main point? I would like this shirt if the heart wasn't there, but it really pisses me off that people are so rude. Not taking criticism well is definitely a detriment, and it turns me off to the design immediately.
