About my design
by Veras
When a robot disobeys his programming, he is destroyed.
When a human disobeys the law, he turned into a robot.

Please leave some feedback.
I'd love to hear from you, my loyal fleshlings.

It's not for me. The image is too big and I don't like the colours. Also, expect to find yourself at the wrong end of some serious anti-robot fascism on this site. I submitted a robot based design once, and got lampooned for it. I don't know how anyone could ever tire of robots. I love robots, even if they are over done.

Because I'm familiar with your artistic style and abilities, I know there are other pieces that would be better suited for a t-shirt. HOWEVER! I like the location of the action, I dig the colors, and that robot makes me want to shed a tear. You get a 5 because I believe in this shirt. Ooh, putting the 'bot in the bottom corner would be super awesome.
All-in-all, nice work, li'l bruddah.

Placement looks akward, I like the robot, maybe you should put the text on the shirt.
Veras
Veras on Oct 04 '05
Right, because text goes over SO well with the threadless community.
It's a real shame that all of you kids hate text so much yet shirt that say,"Pencils are erasist" get printed.
Explain that logic.

Logic of the 'PENCILS ARE ERASIST' tee -

1) the text is utterly intrinsic to the design, and isn't just a stock typeface - it has been processed to fit the concept. I generally think text is overused, but when it works and is there for a reason, go with it.

2) That t-shirt is really funny.

But I agree, text is probably overly frowned upon on threadless - like robots. Someone used the term 'text nazi' in a post I saw recently, which I thought was quite apt.

And we're not all kids, by the way - you're hardly going to endear yourself to anyone with that kind of banter.

Especially since you're only 18 yourself, kiddo.

I'm glad you picked up on that.
Yes, I am on the cusp of being 19 therefore calling everyone else "Kids" is a humerous juxtaposition.
I can tell already that my writing voice is not being interprited well and for that I apologize. However, I feel that bad scores based on what I say are, at least, somewhat unfair.
I know this shirt won't get printed, but it's giving me a better feel for this "Community."

Absolutely - I was the same at your tender age, and as you can tell, getting older only has only compelled me to patronise others with greater impunity.

I wonder about the threadless community sometimes - I joined alittle under 2 years ago, and even then things were a lot different. These days, people using the site are generally younger, less critically aware and less discerning in their taste. As a consequence, I think the standard of design has declined. Yes, you get the occasional corker like the recent 'Room With a View', by Grayehound, but I see a lot of stuff printed on threadless now that never would have made it a couple of years ago. You can argue that people are getting what they want because designs are publicly assessed, but that really just means that as the site has become more popular, the designs have aquired more mass-appeal. I always thought threadless was altogether not mass-appeal, more about the left-field and the unexpected. Shame.

Anyway - take it easy, dude. Like I said - this design isn't for me, but keep going and don't take any shit about doing stuff with robots (though I have to say, I'm a bit miffed that I got such a slagging for my effort and you haven't) .

And apology accepted, by the way (by me at least), though it wasn't really necessary anyway. I hope noone does mark you down for getting a bit shirty, but then people can be arseholes.

Robots are incapable of love!

I love the color of the shirt/robot, but it's a little big and placement is awkward and the person would look better behind the the circle.

If you changed all that, I would buy it. I like robots :)

i dont know why, but i LOVE the placement.

$5 just because its cool

spitting_llama on Oct 07 '05
No, no, no, don't change the placement. It makes it look like the robot is going to attack the person wearing wearing it, which is teh cool.

He was normally but you couldn't make it out very well so I had to make an executive decision.
Thanks for all the comments and, apparently, shitty scores. I'll have another submission up next week for all of you to hate again.
Bah.
