I'm giving this shirt a FIVE desipite of the small things I would critique on it. I hate to be one of those guys who says "change the placement & its a 5$", "change the color & I'm buying it", "yatta yatta yatta". But seriously, I'm not digging this shirt color for this design. I'm thinking an athletic grey or a charcoal shirt color would do this design more justice. BECAUSE IT IS AN AMAZING ILLUSTRATION. & you're racking up the scores merely because of that.
The message of the shirt is thought provoking. I know there is a time for war and a time for peace...but this artwork really shows the evil of man. Many would like to make this a politcal statement now...but I think its much more than that. |

I don't know quite why, but this shirt reminds me very much of the Carl Sandburg poem, The Unknown War. I'm not much of one for advertising political messages on my person, but I must say that I would eat steaming yak shit to wear this t-shirt and pick up liberal hipster sluts. I do love this.

ni.m. on Sep 23 '05 well, as its about 1000 votes and 50 comments or so, i will go ahead and respond. first, i'm glad so many peops like the design and thanks for the compliments. i really dont think it needed any color in the design because the theme is kinda dry and not so warm n fuzzy. similary for the shirt color. i guess for the shirt color, i actually dont care what color it goes on. i like it on charcoal, black, even white. i thought it looked good on this one too. i actually didnt even think to choose more than one or really tease out which looked best. thanks for pointing it out. i prefer it on something similarlly kinda dry and sad personally. its weird, i took so much time on the image, i should have put more effort into something as basic as the color of the damn shirt.

the positioning of the bodies, the way they're jumbled to appear innumerable, reminds me of the way Shel Silverstein created his illustrations. it seems that a great poem could be written entirely on the image you've made. excellent job.....

have you ever seen the cartoon "War is Glory" by Thomas Nas(t?)? this sort of reminds me of it in how it presents its message - the cartoon has a skeleton draped in medals and a laurel wreath sitting on a pedestal amid dead bodies and explosions.

that is simply the most amazing design ive ever seen. the shirt color sucks, but the image is so powerful it makes up for it. and then some. if i had money, id buy this in a heartbeat. especially if it wear on a different color. it would probably look good on a khaki or army green color as well as charcoal/black/white... |
