These days it seems that everything is a Washington, D.C. production!

i love the idea, but i think the font you used for productions really takes away from the design. maybe if you just eliminated that word entirely? i think it would still make sense.

No way! The word "productions" is the entire joke to me.

Nice parody.

Hi everyone! Many thanks for the reviews!

I appreciate all commentaries and suggestions about the design (many of which are really good) and will definitely keep them in mind, in case the design is produced by Threadless...

I like how "productions" is all in a professional style font. It's like they're trying to make their productions official and accredited. 5$

seems like a good idea, but not for a threadless Shirt design contest.

I like it, it's very well done. Though.. isn't Disney a very sue happy company..? I know! I'm lame, but I'm afraid that this is a bit too much for me. I REALLY like it though! Ah! Torn! >.<

As mentioned before, anything related to Disney is a lawsuit waiting to happen. If Threadless were a basement business, then perhaps they could fly under the radar with this.

Smarten up the font on 'productions' and I'll buy it. It's an excellent concept well executed.

The revision is even better than the original
design. Excellent work, BlackSheep77 !

I wouldn't worry about copyright. I think
your use of parody protects you in this
case. A parody is the result of someone
imitating a work, such as literature,
music or artwork for a humorous or
satirical effect.

Here's a URL for those who want to know
more about parody and copyright :

Thanks y'all : )

helo: yes, i'm a bit familiar with what you describe regarding the use of parody... this design is making a political statement, something that should be protected by freedom of speech.

i'm glad to know you liked the revision; if this design doesn't get printed, then i guess i'll resubmit it in it's revised version... or maybe it's possible to resubmit a revised design even if the previous submission did get printed...

oh, and thanks for the link; i'll definitely take a look at that info!

I agree that you should lose the word production. The font you chose takes away from how slick the rest of the design is.
--
The word production doesnt add any meaning to the design... It only would if there was some sort of action or something that it was referncing directly. Comparing The Oval Office to Disney Land is the joke... and nothing else is needed
--
lose the word production, make it aq bit smaller and you got yourself a $5, until then... 4
--
also... FINALLY.... a design with a political agenda that doesnt suck
--
great job

Greatly executed idea! I think all political parody or satire are healthy and are also something that has been done for ages, what I really enjoy is finding an inteligent one.

to BlackSheep77 :

Here's one of Threadless' reasons for
declining a submission:

Duplicate Submission - Please only submit your design once
and do not submit additional submissions for changes in color,
size or placement. By slightly changing your design a little
bit based on comments, we still treat it as a duplicate.

I say go ahead and try the resubmission.
What could it hurt? A: nothing

Here's an example of someone resubmitting
their designabout 10 days after their first
submission ( 3 days after their first
submission was no longer in the running ) :

Thanks helo!

Yeah, i guess I will do that; after all, there's nothing to lose... and the design did change a bit, maybe even more than the 'Produce is Murder' design, which is very good by the way!

I really like the way this is going (as everyone has said before).

I think you should go to a simpler text to productions. something like helvetica or franklin gothic instead of to the grudgy type font in the msn link. The word "productions" kind of speak for itself so I don't think there's any reason to be heavy handed and use a novelty font.

My 2 cents. :)

Thanks y'all for your comments and observations; I'm glad to see so many people connected with the design's message.
Basically, the message is that Washington has a lot of 'productions' worldwide, most of which are pretty ridiculous and unrealistic.
Another important message made by this design is that Hollywood, the media, and the entertainment industry in general (in this case represented by Disney) are to a large extent manipulated by Washington in order to keep people—both in the US and abroad—distracted, or thinking what they want us to think. In other words, Hollywood is very much our modern-day ‘Roman Circus’.
