Well this is my very first submission. Any constructive criticism would be very much appreciated. But don't be too harsh on me now, ey? Thank you! :)

love the illo. however- all the text-haters are so gonna say...
"lose the text."
sigh. i would try to bring it into the design area rather than have it floating up there?
great first sub tho!

Hey taz-pie, yeah I realize how extremely 'dangerous' and sensitive when using type in a design. Endless crits of getting rid of it. Anyways, as for your suggestion I actually tried placing it earlier different places near the design, but somehow it didn't seem to fit, it was too unbalanced, prolly too much negative space, maybe I should've added more elements in the design?

Thank you so much for your crit!!

If people don't go hard on you, you've never going to get better. That's how I learned. I got major crap for my first design.

Anyways, I don't like this at all. It reminds me of one of those shirts by Self Esteem that have those obnoxious monkeys that have attitudes larger than their asses.

That wasn't supposed to sound extremely mean. It's good for a first submission. Better than some of the stuff that's been submitted by people who have been submitting to Threadless for months.

Thanks everyone for the comments, and crits. Hey (stuck with pins), it's okay, I'm pretty used to harsh crits, well harsh crits are okay if they are constructive, if its just bashing its useless and there's no point to it.

I'm used to it since i'm mostly a photographer, and getting crits is of the norm, at first I hated criticism, but as the time passes I realized how much those crits have helped me improve, compared to the sweet and sugary compliments which usually boasts the ego and gives self assurance, at times drags you away from trying or wanting to improve.

However, for a first submission, it's kinda nerve wrecking when you immediately get bashed, sorta like pushes you down. Hehe, well i'd better get myself ready for people that will go hard on me. Heh, prolly i'll end up being one too.

Thanks. Btw, you've some pretty rad designs (stuckwithpins). =]

Bunny is too illustrator. Try hand drawing it and make it conveyed only with pictures. Maybe make it a conversation with another bunny or for greater wit try just using the umbrella or raincoat to speak directly to the viewer of your T.

Thanks setgdeutchman, those tips are very useful i'd say, especially it being too illustrator. I'd definitely keep a mental note of that for any feature designs. Thank you once again!

cool! i like this one..esp as your first..it's pretty impressive..NO SUGAR COATING THERE...here is one crit about the text.

the SKINNY looking cursive text..doesn't work..placement..will come after ...pick a bold and maybe a san serif.."plain" if you must...helvetica, Avenir, something basic.."clear cut" but bold...so it doesn't separate the image and text too much...you could brinig it closer...to the drawing..right above it...maybe it's not an illustration meant for the bottom right of the shirt..more like SMACK DOWN THE MIDDLE..."straight forward" just as the text reads...i have yet to turn in my first submission...I WANT IT TO have this kinda style too..still playing with my design..so i'll trust in YOU that you'll leave a comment or two? hope this helps...

the graphic is so cute. i love it. alot. i'd buy this in a second. maybe put the text on the back? across the top back or the bottom back? just a suggestion. even though i'd still buy it the way it is!

i really like the style and graphic, but the 'witty' quip on it makes the shirt look like all the shirts those "12-year-olds-with-attitudes" wear because they like the attention it gets them.

chiisanamado on Aug 31 '05
i am 24 and i still like the "with attitudes" tshirts.
i'd like to wear it to the lecture of this one particular professor, because most people would agree with it (at least those of us sitting in the front half of the room!).

good job.

if anything, i would move the design up and move the text under it, but it's your design and i like what you have done with it :)

i really think this is a cute design, but maybe have it farther over to the right side of the shirt instead of just on the right-side-middle-ish if that makes sense. Only thing I can think of. Cheers! :B

The text should be smaller and underneath the bunny. Very cute design! :)

I agree with byebyeblackbird, other than that, it's great.

I think the graphic is really cute. I'm not always a "lose the text" person, but this time I think that the graphic speaks for itself.

old navy is the best place to suck. you ought to submit this there and make some real grip.
SueAnnaJoe
SueAnnaJoe on Sep 02 '05
bizarber, well at least i have the guts to submit a design and be sucky. you should submit a design, so i can see how 'good' you are and prolly could take your word of advice. And, if it sucks, tell me why. And I think you didn't really read the note threadless left before posting a comment " Note: If you're going to criticize please be constructive and respectful about it.". So it says alot about you. =]

And thanks alot to those who pointed about the placement of the text!! You guys maybe right!!

I like the idea of dropping the text and adding a second creature holding the umbrella and possibly wearing a raincoat. i'd buy that.

xPigeonx on Sep 03 '05
I still dont really get what the creature is, but its cute... the placement of it doesnt sit right with me though.

the words only state the obvious.

and the bunny looks too much like the infamous 'happy bunny', who graces the Sailor Moon binders of every prepubescent, Backstreet-Boy-thumping fifth-grade girl.

and, you know, thats the look im going for.
SueAnnaJoe
SueAnnaJoe on Sep 11 '05
Thanks all for the comments and honest crits and ratings. And I didn't realize the similarity between the happy bunny, till I saw the link.

As for the ratings I received, quite alot more than I expected, but seeing the average score, haha it's bad, but apropriate I think, compared to the loads of better designs around here.

I guess it'll be ages or forever till I can get my design printed. Not this one for sure. =]
