I love Oolong. I'd buy it if you improved on the eyes.

Yes, fix the eyes. The tan color is the best. When I first saw the original picture, I laughed for twenty minutes straight. I love Oolong as well. I still give you a 5$ even with the funky eyes. Cheers!

Yea I was going to post a link to that bunny..
I'm assuming it's okay to make a shirt based off of a real thing..it's not like putting a pancake on a bunny's head is copyrighted

..I think

The flashy lights give me a headache and make me want to poke my eye's out with a pencil.
The bunny shouldn't be in the center, maybe off to the right or left, maybe you should colour his eye in? It looks creepy..the only colour that works with the design is the last one..

I think the off-center is idea is good, maybe towards one of the shoulders. Everything else is ace though, it made me laugh a lot.

If this is refined and drawn more impressively, it's going to sell like hotcakes! A 4 for hoping you fix it up a bit.

I will definately fix the eye. The original idea of an artistic-edgy look was neither artistic nor edgy :). As for placement, it also up for grabs, the more comments towards your favorite placement the better. Thank you all very much.

ahhaaaa this is like that one thing...off of some website i can't remember. it goes, "I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head"
funny stuff

At the moment, it resembles more of a pancake guinea pig. A bit more articulation on the ears?
azrielen

OMG this is so random.....why on earth does the guinea pig have pancakes on his head? There should be syrup dripping down his little face... Hahaha....

"I'm assuming it's okay to make a shirt based off of a real thing..it's not like putting a pancake on a bunny's head is copyrighted"

Actually a young person was made bankrupt when they won a corel draw contest that featured a vector illustration, based on a real life photo.

So yes, if it is based on the photo, which it absolutely is, then it is a copyright infringement.

Cute - if it gets made you have to send one to oolong and his owner - only seems fair.

needs a bit of work to make it look at little more like a bunny though - my first thought was it was a guinea pig

good job!
Quag
   Quag on Sep 06 '05
If this is infringement, i definately won't push to get it printed, just i've seen more blatant and obvious ones than this, so if Threadless decides it's inapropriate, err, i guess it is then :).

Oolong is dead. I think I saw that on the website. Also, you should probably check into the pictures on his page being copyrighted, becasue a lot of websites say you can't use images without express written consent or something.

I would like this if the bunny had limbs and ears. $5 if you fix it.
Quag

" I would like this if the bunny had limbs and ears. "

It was a tribute to little oolong, and a famous pic of him, where it's fat is kinda, covering his legs, along with the pancake smushing its ears to its head. True though, i will touch up the ears a bit to make them stand out more.

"and... if you are going to steal artwork/ideas.... PLEASE atleast steal the good ones."

For one, how is a bunny with a pancake on its head not the sweetest thing known to man.

Also, of course its taken from a photo, its a tribute.

This isn't a tribute or a parody... it's copyright infringement.... and it's poorly crafted.

" This isn't a tribute or a parody... it's copyright infringement.... and it's poorly crafted."

Sorry i made fun of your wife, and sorry your submissions don't do well at all, but you don't have to take it out on oolong.

Also , looking at your submissions, theres one of an image of superman, i'm sure that wasn't copyrighted ;).

"This isn't a tribute or a parody... it's copyright infringement.... and it's poorly crafted. "

Dude, just quit your threadcrapping and worry about finding you and your wife some more original designs. Some of your stuff isn't that original either. Sorry you aren't winning, but just vote and move on.
rudeboyzach
rudeboyzach on Sep 10 '05
Well, I actually draw all my submissions and don't copy photographs.

This oolong shirt is poorly crafted. This had nothing to do with "threadcrapping" (whatever that means).

I don't have to defend myself from angry little scene-ster kids that submit subpar designs.

Ya'll are right. I'll vote and move on. If it's a bad design, ugly illustration, poorly executed, or copyright infringement, I'll give it a zero.

:)

scenedance on Sep 10 '05
"Well, I actually draw all my submissions and don't copy photographs."
Big deal. You and your wife want to know why you don't win? Sure, you draw then all yourself, but it's (apparently) not what people want to see on a shirt. You came in here and were neither constructive nor helpful. You could have just stated it was copy infringement (your opinion), but you had to throw some backhanded insult in there as well with no explanation whatsoever. You and your wife seem to be on this big crusade to stop "image stealing", but all you do is talk and talk and talk instead of offering real insight. Also, it's awful big for you to berate kids for being scenesters, when you both run the hottopic cutesy emo style to the ground. Maybe be more imaginative and you won't be stuck in the doldrums of illustrating children's books.
Quag
   Quag on Sep 10 '05
Haha, i'm not the only one who thinks pleasing infants isn't the top of the illustrators food chain.

Also, clever calling me a sceneter while both you and wife weat the typical emo glasses and band shirts, "Look at me, i like the aquabats!"
rudeboyzach
rudeboyzach on Sep 10 '05
So.... scenedance and Quag are teaming up to form one giant emo-kid hate robot?

Neat.

"hot topic emo style"? Wow, you've really nailed us both. .. really. Seriously. Love it.

I could get into some constructive crit about this shirt, but you just want people to say "cute $5"... and hope they don't notice that it's a stolen image.

I could talk about composition and color choice. Maybe a better rendering of the graphic, better placement on the shirt, but it's not what you guys want to hear. You don't want to learn and be better, you just want tobe considered cool by being hateful.

I was going to say that Quag should rework his 'June' submission and resubmit because it has potential (maybe use a more iconic speed limit sign do people might "get it" quicker, make it smaller onthe shirt and drop the emo hair)... but I'm sure you both will come back at me spewing hate and mocking my career and wife.

Maybe scenedance will submit something someday.

You know that if you spoke to people in real life the way you talk to people in the stupid internet, you'd probably get socked in the nose.

Being 'anonymous' makes people brave.
scenedance
scenedance on Sep 10 '05
Newsflash pal, we both have our profiles open with our real names in clear text. We aren't anonymous. No one said anything to you until you came in here crying "stealer" without offering any other criticism. Of course I want to see your thoughts, why else would I have called you out on it. I don't see anything wrong with your designs, in fact you are quite good at illustrating, but if you just quit your job as the intellectual property police no one would have any problem with you. This image is just a fun recognition to a well known message board reply, it's not meant to be the pinnacle of t-shirt design. I'm fairly sure Quag would like if you would constructively give suggestions, but you keep hiding solely behind the fact that this isn't an original image. Also, my post was incredibly respectful and to the point (minus the last line), so I don't get where you think we are trying to be cool by hating. That isn't the intention at all, it's just hard to be respectful when you went on like a broken record for a few posts, adding no helpful information. People in the first few posts brought up that it was based off something else, so i'm not sure why you need to trumpet that even further.
Quag
   Quag on Sep 11 '05
Yes, he pretty much said it. I would of actually quite enjoyed if you helped me as an artist, and you might know, its hard not to get defensive from a design, especially from such an intense accusation as stealing it. I've seen "Stolen" designs. I design called "Fourbucks" i believe it was. It was actually an image, you could google the image "fourbucks" and find the exact thing which was placed on the shirt. Also with others such as taking a picture of the king on playing cards, i'm sure you saw it, it was the exact image someone else had made. Mine i find quite different, a tribute in the fact that i made it about him, and it wasn't the original media it came in, ei, a photo. It's not as though i went File > Vector this photo, and i posted it, it was still work, different then drawing it, but work indeed.

sarahrae on Sep 12 '05
I guess I am coming in on the back end of this all. How did I manage to get dissed in the process.

I dont care if you steal artwork anymore... I mean honestly, its just too overrun in here to care anymore. So if you are going to call it a "tribute" then make it that. Put lettering on the shirt that signifies that, not just that you found a cute critter online and wanted to put it on a shirt.
Maybe change the colors up a little, maybe put other design aspects in with it so its not the same thing.

Make it a tribute, so that people know. And the eye... was totally creepy. For what it was, it scored ok, keep trying, think of ways to change things up if you want them to be a tribute, or in memory of something... if you just use the same image, then it just LOOKS like youre stealing it, even if you aren't or didn't mean to.

some of you people suck!

Oolong rocks, and I'd order this shirt for me and my friends if I could. We all love Oolong and were excited when we found this on here, just sad that it's not an actual shirt.

And if you have a problem with this design, then maybe you shouldn't look at it. Or just stop complaining about it like little girls.
