My other submissions

This is my second submission. My first was At At Boo Boo which still has people begging for Threadless to make it. I guess I have George Lucas to blame.

if its supposed to be like 'DOS' as in operation system for a computer then spelling is correct. but if its supposed to be german its 'DAS'
DaveHorowitz
DaveHorowitz on Aug 29 '05
Perhaps I can explain.

In many cases if you wanted to play an old game or emulation such as "Sea Wolf" you might need to first make a disc known as a BOOT DISC in order to "boot up" in DOS so you can install and play your game.

This combined with the fact that DOS BOOT is German for "THE BOAT" (which is the title of the 1981 film about a german WWII U-boat) creates humor for a selct few. Sometimes referred to as "leet."

or nerds ;)

Tis a clever design, I wouldn't wear it though because of the 'nerdy' aspect -for want of a better word - sorry

DaveHorowitz on Aug 29 '05
No, don't be sorry. It is nerdy. Very, very nerdy.

Wow I saw the shirt and knew instantly what game you were talking about. I feel really nerdy.

Cute shirt! love the play on words, coming from someone who mastered their video game skills on old school games like that. And I understood the computer humor! Love it!

well, the at-at shirt is brilliant and should have been printed... ihmo.

i was one of the lucky ones born and raised on a mac plus, so the dos-promt is a trauma i was spared. nontheless, now that it's been explained to me, i like the geekiness.

Great movie "Das Boot", I also remember such a game. This made me chuckle.

Pozar - don't fear the DOS prompt, its your friend.

For the record I recieved an email from threadless stating they "have no intention of printing the At At Boo Boo t-shirt.

Rats

I guess I will have to.

Print it myself that is... send any At At inquiries to punylittlehuman@gmail.com

I remember the game "deep scan" fondly, but not enough to wear it, sans any extra creativity, on a shirt.

I LOVE DOS. I miss DOS. I got really pissed when Windows bypassed the DOS prompt on startup! I am a nerd! This shirt rocks.

Cute, but don't we already have enough "shirts with arcane references for nerdss to wear to feel superior"?
DaveHorowitz
DaveHorowitz on Aug 31 '05
I agree, deliciousmalicious. In fact I first sent it to Jinx.com where it belongs, but alas no reply. Rather than let it rot in a folder on my external drive I thought I'd put it up here and see if it gets a laugh.

You know you've got nothing when you spend more time on the ornamental frame around the design than the design itself.

My dad used to work with the computer systems of some german boats. When asked what kind they were he replied it was dos boot.

Does getting this on first glance make me leet?

This combined with the fact that DOS BOOT is German for "THE BOAT"

NO,

DAS Boot. We understand the DOS part, check out the box . DAS Boot

DaveHorowitz
DaveHorowitz on Sep 20 '05
I know how to spell it pooHED

the line you repeated is a typo

I am German

I know the difference between DAS and DOS

I can only assume you are German as well. Not because you can spell the German word for THE, but from your lack of a sense of humor. :)
