I like the concept.
But did u gave any thought to the typo?
green-means-go
green-means-go on Aug 25 '05
????? Typo? I don't see one.
I like it, but I agree, smaller text. Maybe slightly different font? Not anything stylized or anything, but different?
Anyway, 5. Buy if you change text.

I agree, do something with the text or even lose it altogether. Otherwise, very nice.

howlynart on Aug 26 '05
the typo is the space between the # and the 2. It shouldn't be there.

Super kickin' concept !
< applauding >

Your image can easily hold up on its own.
The text and motion lines aren't necessary.

I like the shirt color of the shirt closest to the front.
( the very warm grey color )

This. Is. Brilliant. I think it's better without the text, but the size of the image is fine.

Great design. I would like to see the type squattier and remove the # (maybe use 002 instead).

Wonderful idea, but if you must have the text, move it a little lower from the image and use a different font, as already suggested. Or, get rid of the text altogether. I love this.

This concept is cool, but the connection as an illustration between the last boy and the army man is not dead on yet. I'd love to see the boy get more filled with the darker green as he rolls. In the first he looks like you have him, the 2nd he has more of the dark green color mass to the figure (added shadows to the limbs might do it), the 3rd boy is even more full of the darker green, then Blam the army guy fully green. (but he could stand to have a few highlights added for interest.)

Nice concept.

   bortwein on Aug 26 '05
Oh and I don't think you need the text that big. I don't really think you need it at all but if you think it needs to be there, I do think it needs to be much smaller. Like a label. "Fig. #2 Roll Maneuver"

Yeah - I agree with these people here. Small text (different font) and differnt colors all around. Great graphic concept.
shaymeow
shaymeow on Aug 26 '05
I was looking at this again and thought of something not too original.
I still back up what i said about getting rid of the text or I agree with others to make it smaller..

colour wise i think if the boy was outlined in Black and the army man was black it might be easier to fit different colours with him, like a dark foresty green, brown, white...ect

Type is GREAT just the way it is because that's what it is, it's that maneuver. It's #2. Makes you wonder how many other maneuvers "they" have...

forget the whales, my bumper sticker reads SAVE THE TYPE

very nice. i like. hasn't manoeuver got an "O" in it? hate to be pedantic, but better to hear it now than after hundreds have been printed. i think it would be good in a darker green, and i think i prefer the outline, it emboldens the arrows.

to Aesthetik :

I checked out your spelling --> manouvre
on Answers.com. You really should spell
check yourself before speaking.

Mr.Gorsky (the designer of this t-shirt)
spelled it correctly. Here's a URL to
prove it :
http://www.answers.com/maneuver

Based on the comments I've read, I think
the text is a distraction for two reasons.
The first reason is based on font and size.
The second reason is based on a perception
that the word is misspelled (even though
you it is spelled correctly.)

Even if the first reason is fixed by a revision,
the second reason will not go away. Thus
I think the design would be strengthened
by removing the distraction.

I usually avoid shirt with any kind of war message (pro or anti), but I love this one. The motion of the drawing flows well - it's really fantastic. The caption is witty...I'd be a little sad to see it go completely. Could it be done like a label in a textbook or pamphlet?

loose the text. i just can repeat it. the typography is not fitting, not at all, and the text is simply not needed...

BeccaG
BeccaG on Aug 28 '05
I've just checked in the Collins English Dictionary and the spelling in there is: Manoeuvre.

I personally have never ever seen it spelt as it is on the design......but that could be because I am english.....without the O could be an american way of spelling it.

Neat t-shirt!

Daniel James Diggle on Aug 29 '05
Excellent

Forget all the constant chatter about what do do to change it,
I will tell ya;

*Make the 'M' in Maneuver lower case.

*Lower the position of the text by a couple of pixels, just so it isnt touching one of the arrows in your illustration

*The size could be reduced but only by one or two 'points'

*Always be wary of people who say "Get rid of the text" Threadless is full of illustrators, and illustrators in general do not apreciate text, it 'will unbalance an image' They want it pure, unless the type is illustrated aswell.
It's all bollox, yeah your image would look more aesthetically pleasing minus the type, but the type gives 'voice' to a design that interacts with a viewer who has to 'read' as well as view. Most people here dont understand this VERY important principle.
Pictures with words is the strongest 'engaging' combination
fake headlines
fake headlines on Aug 29 '05
not a huge fan of the text. the image would be stronger without it. greatttt, though.
helo

here's a URL to a site that compares
various spelling differences between the
British, Canadian and American spelling
of the word, maneuver :

http://www3.telus.net/linguisticsissues/BritishCanadianAmerican.htm

I bring this up to show that the word,
maneuver, will be a distraction in the
design and is better left off.

Don't lose the text! i'm sick of pple losing the txt!! - the txt needs to be better formatted, but needs to be there too!
lisadee
lisadee on Aug 31 '05
the text isn't necessary, the message is the same with or without it, therefore go with the "keep it simple stupid" and "less is more" concept.
Also I think if you have to have army man filled in, it should be camoflauge or something. If you can, make him un-filled in
