It took me way too long to get it, and the woman looks really odd positioned like that. Why's her other hand up?

And the feet and legs don't match up at all.

You need to find some way to help emphasize what the children are seeing. Maybe put the sheet on the line closest to the kids and the woman behind that?

Without the title it would have taken me longer to understand lol at first I thought she was naked or something cool idea though

are her feet supposed to be disconnected at the bottom? It looks a bit odd.

Great image-- would buy a print, not shirt.

guys, have you never noticed how silhouettes change at an angle? see the sheet is blowing? hence the feet thing?

i think it is wonderful: suburban super-mom!

made me smile : )

It is such a great idea and very well executed, probably only the basket looks a bit flat, other then that I'm well impressed with the concepts you come up with.

One last thing and don't take offence Glennz... but not everything has to go on a t-shirt. For example this current one in my opinion whould have been best on paper (poster, magazine, etc etc).

Well done mate waiting to see the next :)

Very INTELLIGENT. Might take some yahoo longer to figure it out. And the feet and legs define shift between mom and superhero

it's a sweet idea, but I wish Mom didn't look so naked. there's something pretty disturbing about that!

Very clever idea that goes beyond most of the work on this site in how far out there it goes. It's nice to see something more serious and less toungue-in-cheek from you, too. Gotta agree, though, that it looks more like the kids are saying "Look, Mommy's naked." at first glance.

everyday hero is a great name -- thats really what it looks like if someone is taking down laundry in the sun like that...and oddly, they do kind of look like superheros, even if they are just everyday ones like moms.
FlowPro
FlowPro on Aug 19 '05
it all makes sense and the reason why the legs dont match up is because its making the moms shadow look like the super hero when really she is only doing simple chores that she does everyday hense the name "everyday hero"

This is an amazing idea, but I think I'd only wear it if I was actually a mom.
quoperate
quoperate on Aug 20 '05
my first impression was they were pointing as if to say "ooh She's naked." yeah make her look like she's wearing something, or make the "cape" more connected to her.

i like the idea

but the silhouette looks weird cuz uve got so much detail in the hair and than the hands are just like blob....

LOVE the idea.

only problem is that she does look naked, takes a second glance to notice the cape. play with her positioning/perspective a bit, and give her some clothes. she can have on a cape even while she's got on capris and a collared tee or something.

I agree with grayehound...... intelligent design that really raises the standards here. Well done.

Great use of colour too.

My only crit is similar to what a few others have said about mum looking a bit naked! I can see a vague bump where her sweater comes over her legs but perhaps you could define her clothing a little more, make it look like she has pants or a skirt on maybe?..... i understand the dilemma though, seeing as most superhero outfits seem to be skintight hehehehe!

Great design overall - 5

oh course her feet disconnect, that's how many shadows work.

i like the idea.
Rahna
Rahna on Aug 22 '05
I agree with the earlier comment about the disconnect between the level of detail in mom's hair and her hands - I would either tone down the hair detail or increase the hand detail. I love the concept, but also agree that mom needs some clothes. ;)

boondoggle on Aug 22 '05
Wow, I can't believe people are puzzled about the legs below the sheet appearing to be "disconnected." That's what happens when you step partially behind a sheet and a light source is shining from behind it. . . Same sort of effect with a glass of liquid--when you put the straw in, it appears to be jagged and mismatched when you look at its image THROUGH the glass juxtaposed against the actual straw sticking out of the glass.

I really like it, though. It helps to read the title before viewing, same with the Wizard of Oz character design.

Good job.
c3o
c3o on Aug 22 '05
Okay, time for science class!

It has nothing at all to do with a straw in a glass looking bent due to refraction, and it's not a shadow either.

This is a silhouette, and the "effect" is just simple geometry, projection onto a plane that's at an angle.

If that sheet is blowing towards the kids, I believe her real legs should actually be to the right of the silhouette's, though.. but I don't think you can detemine that conclusively from the illustration.

Aaanyway. Yeah, she looks a little too naked ;)
Glennz
   Glennz on Aug 22 '05
This getting quite scientific! - Beeski was right on, the delema was trying to keep the streamlined look of a superhero outfit but also not make her look naked, hence the slight bump on her hips - maybe a bit sublte. either way as long as the general concept is understood quickly I guess thats what makes a design work or not work, details like the clothing are secondary to that, but I agree, its good to get it all working, - easily fixed

jeffiner
jeffiner on Aug 23 '05
this is a really creative idea, but i'd have to agree it has a few things to be worked out. i also think her hair should be less detailed. what is she actually doing with her hands though..shouldnt there be a sheet up there? maybe i'm just missing something.
gms3
gms3 on Aug 23 '05
The family tip is great with everyday hero but add some more curves to the mom and make the kids a bit older and you take this to a smutty but equally good place
c3o
c3o on Aug 23 '05
But there is a sheet up there where her hands are -- the white one! She's leaning up to put a third pin on the white one.

she looks like she's naked, and the kids are perving on her. yeah she has a cape on, and the title clears it up, but it still looks erotic.

Moms Rock.

she's not naked, she's wearing her superhero outift, which happens to be skintight. kids that small don't think anything's erotic, so it doesn't matter.

and.

i think

her hands sorta look like they're hanging up clothes to dry. but really.
