Mint.

But I've seen the girly mint. It hurts my mind.

So white.

I'd like it better if all of the balaclava was done with the squiggly lines.. because the mouth-hole thing is too smooth and symmetrical.

I keep coming back to this one, because something about it really catches my eye. But, I have to admit that I had to look up what a balaclava was. Which I would have to say a lot of people would have to do the same. I don't think many people know exactly what that is called. I don't know what you would want to do about that, I guess. Other than that, I like the shirt.

Good strong graphic and makes a great t-shirt, but are we ready for 'terrorist chic'?

I got the same feelings as with conan doyle.

It is a very strong graphic and one of your best designs in my opinion from what I've seen.

My only problem is that even though I would love to own a print of this or see it published in a magazine but i wouldn't wear it. I live in London and trust me the last thing I want to see right now is balaclavas, bombs etc etc. I had a friend in one of those explosions who thank god she is well and fine right now.

I still will vote you with a 4 cause I like designs that raise issues and make people interact.

I appreciate your concerns about the design Manos and conan doyle (both designers who I'm very much admiring at the moment)

When designing this graphic, terrorism, terrorists, the IRA etc were not things I was trying to evoke in people. Rather, I was designing this with the idea 'bungling burgler' in mind. In all honesty, I did not associate the image of a balaclava with terrorists until someone in a blog had mentioned that this reminded them of an IRA bomber.

Having said all this, I am by no means trying to promote terrorism, however if this is the response it evokes in people I am all for it being printed and worn by as many people as can be. Why?

In this day and age it is my view that what is causing all this terrorism is the movement against terrorism. The 'war on terror' has done nothing but foster more hatred (on both sides), and thus caused more attacks and suicide bombings. Prior to 9/11 there were relatively few suicide bombings and terrorist attacks on western nations. After 9/11 and with the introduction of strickter terrorism laws etc. terrorism has increased 2 fold.

Our civil liberties are also being eroded day by day. In Australia, there have been many new 'anti-terrorism' laws introduced in recent days. People are being told that if they see anyone who looks to be a threat (that is, according to advertisements and promotional material, anyone of middle eastern appearance, who may be carrying a back pack or wearing a rather bulky jacket) that they should take a picture of them with their mobile phone and report it to the authorities. The authorities are then obliged to investigate. Furthermore, new laws give our intelligence agencies and federal police the right to detain anyone they see fit for 72 hours without a warrant and/or legal representation, for 'questioning'. Once released if you are to mention anything to anyone about where you were for the past 3 days you are jailed for 5 years.

We live in a scary time. For this reason I think we all should educate ourselves and speak out against the wrongs we see being performed by our governments. Dissent is a good thing.

I never believed that you were trying to promote terrorism with this design. And I agree with eveything you say above. 2 things in particular - British involvement in US foreign policy has increased the threat of terrorism in Britain. Only a fool or a politician would deny that. Secondly dissent and the criticism of governments is a good thing and incredibly important in a healthy democracy. Even here on Threadless I read comments saying we should not criticise 'our leader' (in refrerence to Bush). This sounds like the talk of people living in China under Mao. That scares me. Dissent is not only our right it is our duty. People have spent hundreds of years fighting for the rights and freedoms we enjoy in liberal democracies. It would be sad to give them up because of a foreign policy that promotes fear and distrust.

But saying that I think there may be a bit of social taboo that could make wearing this shirt uncomfortable. Anyway I hope it does well.
