This is a parody of the popular children's book "Blueberries For Sal"

oh. I thought, HEy such a charming illustration style! But alas, it is someone else's style... Ditto: "i loved that book! i'mleft unsure how to feel about this design. "

I love that book's illustrations so much, it's a part of my childhood.

I wanted a Blueberries For Sal tee with Robert McCloskey's beautiful cover, but apart from

printing them myself (illegally) there was really no other way to do it but as a parody.

I hope you can find a positive message in this shirt, a warning of the dangers of nuclear power.

This would have been a concern of many in 1948, the year this book was published.

This might be a stretch, but by no means am I making fun of this classic illustration.

This shirt design took a great deal of time. Most of this time was spent in Photoshop stepping

and repeating, cutting and pasting the leaves and various parts into a more ascetic layout for a shirt.

The things I created are the smokestacks and smoke , the leaves on the bottom, the gas mask, and the bears

(except for the mommas bears face, that was the only picture other than the cover that I could find online.

I defiantly can not,and would never take credit for Robert McCloskey's beautiful work.

I just wanted to have his work on a t-shirt, and I think this submission was successful.

If you look at the link below you can see the original cover and compare it to the work I added.

Good designs that are openly borrowed aren't stolen. If you can recreate it and give it place today then you've helped make something classic more available. $5

I think it would be more appropriate if the nuclear cooling towers were replaced with coal power plant smokestacks. I'd buy it then...
