About my design

by Iwouldbejosh
There are so many Eisley designs that rock the casbah, so it's nearly impossible to compete, but I thought I would try...

I started to do something that was more of a literal illustration of Eisley lyrics, but I kept listening to a few songs over and over again, and the design evolved into this. It's inspired by the music more than the title or lyrics of the album. Room Noises kinda reminds me of a children's book, and I was imagining this baby girl sleepwalking and riding her rocking horse while dreaming, and these butterflies come to see what is going on.

There is only supposed to be one yellow color. The yellow color of the dress and moon is supposed to be the same as the banana shirt color, but the colors didn't match right when I imported the template.

I hope you like it! :)

I think that there is too much detail in the girls face. I like the over all shape and colors, but the face forces the eye to zoom in on it and linger too long.

hmm, the girl's head looks too big for the body. Sometimes an exaggerated head looks good on a design, but it doesn't quite seem right here.

Maybe tweak that a bit and add more detail to the window (add a frame, nothing fancy, but at least let there be something other than just a rectangle.)

I wouldn't give this detailed of a suggestion if i didn't like the concept, so i'd suggest a bit of tweaking and resubmit it.

The face is definately too big. The hair almost seems the right size.

And there needs to be more integration of the window(?) with the butterflies. Add a pane, or curtains so it actually looks like a window instead of an out of place rectangle. and don't repeat the same butterfly over and over, especially since it's so flat. Hmm. Recapping:

The girl's face/head is out of proportion.

The window needs more realism and graphical shapes to fit with girl and horsie.

One or two butterflies is enough, but make them realisitc, and different from eachother.

You could even add detail to the moon.. find a nice big picture of the moon that shows the craters and incorporate them. The moon could be yellow and the crater detail could be light blue. Don't be excessive with the detail, though. You don't want to detract too much from the girl.

You should be thankful for the responses you've gotten so far. You've got something good started, and helpful comments mean people want to see the design processed and progress.

Oh well. I guess I'm screwed. I made a newer version, but they wouldn't let me submit it.... :(

I am thankful for the responses, Kevin, but I wish that I had gotten a decent chance....
