the barely visible design is a nice idea.

the brain meets lightbulb is not. I experience eureka all the time. for me, it's like a shot of adrenaline, a mad race to create before the idea fades, a flash in the dark that quickly starts to dim, a flood of mini eurekas usually follow along with a few duhs, it's exciting, pleasing and rewarding all at once.

in short: the accepted iconography, the lightbulb, is great for commercial use, but here you should draw from your own experience with that wonderful feeling.

my answer:
i fill like you (more or less) when ideas come up from my subconscious...and i think the accepted iconography brain-bulb(and related key-word "eureka") it so ancient and famous simply because it works well.
my idea when i started to make this design was just this:
1 make my own version overrated icons..its such of a funny game(for me),almost a "mission" that i want to be accomplished
2 i was thinking about a sort of "multy layered" graphic wich could work with the observer perception in a unusual way: thats why you cant see easily the brain(SUBconscious) but the LIGHTING bulb(idea) is shining outside
3 i just like how these colors and forms work togheter in this placement

It is kinda boring, sorry. The lightbulb is too big. Maybe you want to emphasize the lightbulb, but in its regular shape and proportion it just looks awkward. Maybe if you hand draw the bulb, or make the top more bulbous, or make the brain smaller... Play with it.

that's just incredible. the brain looks amazing and the great detailing on this shirt makes me want to buy it right now!

A bit obvious, loose the light bulb.

It's nice.
But uh, the brain isn't noticeable at all. And it's just a pretty boring subject, really.
But still..nicely portrayed.
