Like the concept, would it not be better to change GraFx Station to SP05, Then but actual copy for Lincoln center and dates.......

The ke r ni ng is off. Good idea tho.

Well, tesko, it is the sign for a GraFx person, not a typographer.

I'll say, please don't tell me that's Arial, which is NOT Helvetica.

The concept's very good, otherwise.

yeah, I have to say the typography needs to be spot on for this to work. like the concept though. Agree with Vish, maybe change the copy.

Ditto. Good idea though, w/the subway letters. kind of wish I'd thought of it myself... :-)

I'd wear a shirt with just the CMYK metro circles, but not something that says "GraFx" -- sorry
martyz
martyz on Jul 13 '05
yeah, i agree with loglow -- this is a clever idea, but it seems a bit too in the "404 error shirt - nerdery" category.

but just CMYK in the metro circles would be pretty sweet.

this is one of the hardest things to pull off well, because you are working with the core elements of graphic design. Try again, this just doesn't work.

LOVE it.

I would lose all of the copy and just leave the circles. The copy is kind of cheesy, in my opinion.

omg...what does CMYK mean? are you kidding me? and you vote?
techwarman
techwarman on Jul 14 '05
C = Cyan
M = Magenta
Y = Yellow
K = Black

Why black you ask? well some people say that it's because B is use for Blue in RGB but that's not true, when printing began the only color available was black and it was called the KEY color that's why they gave it the K.

I like the shirt BTW

fantabulous, a cool shirt for the designers. a matching hat would be good too.

boreas, i would have known what it was but i just wasn't thinking in those terms. i was trying to figure out the superspecies event logic behind those specific letters. plus, being from nyc, when i see letters with circles around them i start thinking about where the lines run, not which colors the letters mean.

Brilliant concept...I too would like just the CMYK.
If you keep the text, just use the GraFX Station and as has alredy been said, hand kern the hell out of those puppies....
It would be cool if you could somehow work the transit map in...put rgb on another line
If it gets printed, you should send one to Massimo Vignelli.

the text-less version is delightful

I agree about the text free version being better...although I can't see any connection with the contest theme at all. I also can't get past the fact that the K circle is white, not black...as popular as black shirts are, I think grey would be better with the circles in the appropriate colours.

i love it. but i'm a graphic designer....so OF COURSE i'd wear it....but i agree the type needs work...the kerning is a little off. and i don't really like "GraFx" but i can't think of any suggestions. cuz the "GraFx" kinda reminds me of FedEx and that a whole nother story.
