This is my first submission to Threadless. The design is for the Used contest. Please tell me what you think: like/dislike/indifferent? Constructive critisms? I would love to hear people's opinions!

definitly a neat concept, I would like it better if it was white on a black shirt tho.

This is vey creative and well executed.

I dislike the burgandy and shirt colour choices, but props for the heart skull.

its a cool concept... but... its a skull. with hearts. what does that have to do with The Used's cd in love and death? love- hearts and skull- death?... its.....

This is pretty much I Like Lions Too with hearts instead of dots and a skull instead of a lion... sorry man.

The hearts were supposed to be dark pink but... yeah, I suppose they do look kind of burgundy. The reason it's on a light shirts is because otherwise the shades would be inversed (ie the dark bits of the skull, like the eye sockets, would be light instead), so it'd look kinda.... odd. I suppose I could have put the hearts in the lighter areas instead of the darker areas, but I don't think that would have worked that well.

and yeah.... sixhundrdsixsix, I know I've used hearts, which usually make tshirts groan-worthy, and skulls, which are kinda obvious. But I figured that I'd forgive myself for using obvious symbols for love and death if I combined them in a reasonably intelligent way, as opposed to doing something really simple - like a skull with a thought bubble containing a heat (bleh). And I couldn't think of anything else associated with death apart from a skull that has an interesting shape.



And as for what it's got to do with the Used's cd, well.... it matches the title :) The brief did say that it had to be inspired by the theme "In Love and Death", and that it should not be a Used band tee.

Ah, I'd seen that Lion tshirt, but never clicked on it to see any detail. So I didn't realise it was made of dots. Plus, I'm sure there's hundread of designs/artwoks made of dots (I mean, who hasn't heard of pointilism?)

And also, that design uses dots to show the outside lines of the drawing (with no additional shading), whereas I use the hearts in my design to show differences in tonality.



Sorry, just wanted to make sure that people know I'm not guilty of plagiarism, I hate that.

i think you did an excellent job. its a nice clean design.

Really nice job translating the form with hearts. In your defense, the lions were connect-the-dots...this doesn't feel at like a coloring book

i've seen somethign similar to this before- in an art book ish thing..but I love it so I dont' care ^^ great job! a 5...LOl yes a little freaky- but cool. I actually think it would look really awesome in red with a black tee
