"i lost sense of direction"??

shouldn't there be a "my" in there somewhere?
hockeyman
hockeyman on Jun 13 '05
yeah there should probably be a "my" in there.

I like it. 4 points

Never Eat Soggy Waffles. But I think the way it's all (for lack of better words) screwed up is on purpose, to convey the no sense of direction thing. I like the concept, but it's confusing. It would change the order of the sentance around and make it "When I was young I lost a sense of direction" and have it read clockwise from the top, like WNSE. Also, you forgot the s in sense.

Never Eat Slimy Worms!

Admitedly it took me a moment to decipher, i agree with ditching the "a" for "my"!

i think it's too confusing

Ash:

Because I am too confused and no one really understands anything I say. So my expression has become your own.

I am willing to descibe this portion of art in terms of psychology, which is the best way to explain it, I think this undrstanding can benifit someone, but maybe its bit off topic now.

>Pistola, at 1:09am on Jun 14, 2005

... have it read clockwise from the top, like WNSE. Also, you forgot the s in sense.

Ash:

1- Who reads a compass clockwise? No one reads a compass clockwise, its always NSEW.

2- The "s" is there, if you mistaked it for an "a", its not an "a".

Never Eat Slimy Worms!

Admitedly it took me a moment to decipher, i agree with ditching the "a" for "my"!

Ash:

There is no "a", there's no "my".

___________________________

My explaination:

NSEW (North South East West) is how a compass is read by default, after Up Down Right Left (inspired by the "rule of thumb" common cheat standard on Sega which I played alot when I was young, as how most most effective cheats started with.)

I had no control on how they were arranged, nor on what sentene it permitted at the end, which was all summed after this conclusion:

The metod of order in which letters be rearranged, which I used is this (following through NSEW default I descibed above, hereinafter known as "¹defOrd" operating rythm==1,2,3,4. And the position of how they appear on the compass diagram when read, hereinafter known as "²diagramPos.", opertaing rythm==1,3,2,4):

N_ 1st (¹defOrd) : Shift from 1 to 4==N to W

S_ 2nd (²diagramPos.) : Shift 180º Vertical

E_ 3rd (¹defOrd) : Shift from 2 to 3, from E to S

W_ 4th (²diagramPos.) : Shift 180º Horizontal

I hope that doesn't make it even more confusing, but there is a system I used, and this system is derived from my everyday living and dealings, which now is showing in my expression in art.

Thanks :)

...I have some work on this site http://www.coroflot.com/_

Over there I explained my interest in Euclidean algorithm and space. The basis of my everyday living and dealings I mentioned in my previous comments is derived for Euclidean algorithm, which the system I explained adopts.

I got the idea yesterday when I was driving to work, and there was this car infornt of me that had a spare tyre cover with a compass thing on it, so I thought, what would it mean to me if the letters were misplaced???
Mythsnlore
Mythsnlore on Jun 15 '05
1. I want a 'my' and I want it badly.

2. I would like a needle or something to show it's a compass.

3. Cool idea, nice excecution but I want it to be perfect :D

Ash: How much is enough? And what can you understand by "whiney"?

I like the concept a lot, but in my opinion the design is blocky and inelegant and I am just not attracted to it.

Ash: I agree there is basicly no design, no style, just an idea.

It's too violent. I 'd never buy it because I don't promote violence like you. Obviously all the Sega playing as a kid must of made you incredibly hostile.

Also, the idea is dumb and so is the execution. I mean, do you think it's possible for you to of spent any LESS effort in this submission?

a. You didn't even proof read it.

b. You just crapped out four triangles (you didn't even try to make the compass look creative)

c. Then your uninspired wanna-be creative mind pulled Helvetica and did some terrible resizing.

d. Learn how to kern jack-ass.

In the end you submitted a design (if one can even call it that) that has the personality and thought of a cardboard box. Which probably makes sense coming from you.

-0 if possible.

Not a fan of having people stare at my chest for more than 5 minutes. The image has to say it's message as quickly as you walk by someone on the street, longer than that, and it's an unsuccessful t in my opinion. and don't respond to the comments, read them, learn from them and appreciate you're getting feedback... and be quiet.

Springfish, might my system be too ahead of your conscious mind, for you to be able to apprehend, but don't blame God cause he's given us equal capabilities, its just that some of us can't appreciate it, and thats sad.

And I can see that all you're saying about "violence" is related to my previous comments on your Stabby, sorry but I still think its violent, and so do many.

Again, I am not trying to be creative visually here, but creativity can be applied to thought, which isn't easier than seeing creative things, so from my first comment, it will only require you some thinking to understand and find value in this. Please before you score, read my previous comments.

Thanks.

Totally immature.

   Springfish on Jun 17 '05
Dude, you're a toolbox. Your logic, listed above, doesn't make any sense. Anyone who thinks your submission is worthy of more than a (1) is crazy.

Also, regarding Stabby…I don't care if you "think" it's violent. It was explained that it's a play on the way corporations market to kids, not about stabbing anyone. It's a whole lot more believable than the jargon you listed for your busted ass compass.

You should get a job as a janitor…get creative cleaning up garbage.

Hey everyone, it's a T-shirt. Calm down just a little bit.

I think it's a very clever idea. A bit bland, but anything too flowery would detract from the design and make most people skip over the fact that the directions are mixed up.

It took me a minute to figure out the correct order, if I were you I'd switch the east and west around so it reads clockwise. Either that, or add a 'my' in front of sense, so it's easier to peice together. Prefferably both, however.

5$, even if it does't get changed at all.

Not to your mind, if you were to consider that somewhere, but I wouldn't as it seems far too away from immediate comprehinsion, which renders your mind too lazy now after that you said it.

:/ maybe..

I realize it adopts no style, that was my intention, I wanted it to be deprived from emotion and require more intellect.
